That sounds pretty dismissive to me.

Fair enough, you're entitled to your opinion. I interpreted his response differently.

I see parliament has been recalled because MPs were dismayed at losing time to discuss key Brexit issues and the discussion is about matters on the periphery. Surprising, not. Another government tactic?

My wife, hardly interested in politics lifted her head from her phone and facebook last night to make the comment that "she thought they wanted to come back so they could talk about brexit".

They did love i said to which she said "they haven't spoke a word about it all day and have just attacked each other".

Parliament hasn't been recalled, it has resumed its sitting following an unlawful attempt to prorogue it. It carries on dealing with its business in its usual way.

I used to work with a number of ex army guys and a few ex RAF, they were engineers, linguists and so on, great blokes the lot of them.

In all my time with them, and we worked together for many years, travelled abroad for work, I don't remember them ever talking about the armed forces as a meritocracy?

Some of the things they came out with about the "officer class" (their words not mine) were beyond belief, stupidity on a scale difficult to comprehend, until one realised the narrow group from which they sprung.

Was that your experience?

If Labour MPs are getting death threats it’s probably because they’ve pissed off millions of people, not because someone heard the Benn act described as the surrender bill.

That makes a good example of interpretation actually. Was I using "recalled" in the official sense, or the looser sense of returning something/someone to a previous location?

I was a subordinate who took orders from senior NCO's and officers as it is a disciplined, uniformed service.

No, that has not negatively impacted on my life outside of the Army and it certainly hasn't carried on with regards me taking orders other than usual work place instructions from the boss and politically i dont feel subservient to anyone be them Tory or Labour PM's.

Only fucker i take orders off these days is the wife.

I think that's what you wanted form me fumble but if Not, feel free to tell me in the form of one of your riddles and hopefully we can form some sort of understanding at some point today?

As for rascal having me on block feel free fella as the more i get blocked off the likes of rascal, the more I know I am right although i would be disappointed as i enjoy your posts even if we rarely agree.

This has been going on for some time with the far right who have been on board with Brexit from day one of the Brexit campaign. All Johnson has done is embody that image he wants to portray this strong leader far right fire brand figure with his language and attitude that Brexit is the be all an end all to everything.

It was a pretty silly way for supposed learned judges to describe it imo.

Putting aside the rights and wrongs of their judgement, the plain fact was that parliament had been prorogued and it would have to come back again. It may or may not have been illegal for this to have happened, but they chose to word it in a way which implied it had not happened. I.e. in disagreement with reality.

MP's have to return because they had gone away. Sorry judges, get over it.

How did my post suggesting that structure in the armed services may not be based solely on merit, morph in to an accusation that your attitudes are informed by your deference to authority, born out of your service?

Most of the ex service people I worked with were more outspoken than I was, they suffered fools very badly, regardless of position, it got them in to trouble more than once, but they were bloody good at what they did, and were genuinely well liked, so they got away with it most of the time.

I believe we are shaped by our experiences, but we're not trapped by them.
