And @Rascal, no it is not up to the police to decide if something is a criminal act. That is a matter of law. It is open to the police to decide whether they want to turn a blind eye to it. IMO they turn a blind eye rather too much. For example the trashing of (for example) Fortnum and Mason's after the Tottenham shooting and the rampant looting that the police in many cases just stood back and watched. And more recently the criminal damage to the Shell building for example. Not on. Not on at all.

You might want to live in a lawless hell hole. I do not.

Cant disagree with that.

To say they are tossers because they might be making life a little harder for some members of the public is just tough shit, democratic rights to protest come first.

And there is no right to criminality no matter the cause.
 
These are proper protests at least.

People were quick to criticise Davies for walking out on the King’s horse but the end result was women being the democratic right, in which they deserve.

Thunberg and ER May piss people off, as the suffragettes and Martin Luther King’s marches did but history will be kind to them for doing something about a grave injustice.

Those calling for the police to be heavy handed with them don’t know what they’re saying and the grave implications that go with it.

That is your opinion of course as you state. I don't support violence in any shape or form.

But what is indisputable is the right to protest, that is my whole point. Stopping that right is tantamount to a police state, its almost fascistic.

And who would that be? All I ask of our police is that they uphold the rule of law, nothing more, nothing less. If people are breaking the law they should be stopped from doing so and punished according to the law. Simple as that really.

Have you taken some pills or something? Why do you keep going on about stopping a right to protest? You're obsessed with it when no-one has suggested anything of the sort.

And so you don't support violence. Great, that's a start. What about supporting smashing up public buildings, like Millbank? Is that fair game, just a bit of criminality so long as you don't kill people?

I completely agree. However I would say that sometimes and only sometimes, slightly breaking the law is a necessity to getting a message across.

I can't condone it. And the definition of "slight" is rather subjective. The people who daubed paint all over the Shell building might have deemed that slight. If it was all over the wall of your house, you'd probably take a different view. Ditto camping out on Oxford street for over a week. The police should have got the water cannon on them on day 2 imo.

Okay so your last line is what I’m talking about. A water cannon isn’t appropriate for anyone not being violent.

Maybe if you feel this you should have protested outside the met? Probably couldn't be arsed though which is what this is all about. Inconvenience and apathy.

No need to be rude, I am not rude towards you.

There are people on here who would stop them protesting, those people are illiberal and anti-democratic.

I don't support violence, but I do support protest by means such as drones and using fire engines etc.
