Still think they will do a deal, although the chances have been significantly reduced by the remain parliment. The fact that they want us to stay means that they are likley to compromise somewhat. If they didn't care they wouldn't have extended.
They will, they have done a deal, they agreed it with the government, parliament blocked it, not entirely but mainly down to ERG including members of the cabinet and the PM , and the DUP. That deal is still on the table, as would be a CU with a bit of SM thrown in. Only this governments red lines and intransigence is stopping a deal. Sounds like May and Labour weren’t far off a deal when she got dumped.

Nothing, yet.

And is it really that inconceivable to you that for many people, the decision to leave the EU was made YEARS before the referendum and the lies spewed by Stronger IN and Vote Leave?
No it’s not inconceivable, so what Brexit did you/ they vote for ? No deal ? Norway ? A structured soft Brexit ? Switzerland? Canada ?
Chief leaver Farage was pushing Norway at one point but has now changed his mind to no deal . Unless people voted for all the above scenarios.

This too would require a referendum again, and we already had one on proportional representation recently under Cameron+Clegg, so this too i persume would be betrayal of democracy. Or does that only work for the Leave arguement.

Its a wish, not a demand.

I dont get to decide.

Except the one that promises one to the angered leave supporting public... ooops.
Most of the public, in fact everyone I know on either side just want it put to bed either way and forget it ever happened, their is nobody I know would want to start this all up again, once this dogs sleeping it will be left to lie.

Ha ha ha - then most people you know will be disappointed - No Deal - Leave on a deal - New Referendum - Revoke A50 - those are the realistic outcomes and none will put Brexit to bed - their dogs are going to be awake and barking for years to come.

He voted for EFTA. He might be the only one mind because apparently no other Leave voter took any notice of the official Leave promise that we'd still be in a free trade zone from Iceland to the Russian border.

I'm guessing you don't read this thread much. Otherwise you'd know my position already.

Apologies for anyone reading this, but just so you Carlos understand, I would be overjoyed if the UK became a member of the EFTA.

Only if that result is that we leave the EU.

If we don't, those of us who still advocate doing so, will look to whatever avenue is possible to acheive that.

Or the EUs intransigence, you just admitted they haven't budged. The deal they offered was effectively staying in the EU , paying into the EU but having no say. Only an fool would think it was actually leaving.

And you are so far from the truth when you said the ERG effectively blocked it. Every Labour MP voted against it bar five !!

No, most have only taken a passing interest in politics every few years., this impending big change has awakened an interest and a divide. Yet even on here how many post in this thread, in my coffee shop conversation only turns to brexit as we approach a deadline like now the regulars can go weeks without discussing it. Once settled either with a deal , or revoke or after another referendum, they will slip back to their every few years interest and the impression I get they can’t wait.
I’m the regulars in this thread will carry on going at it though.

And if the whole of the tories plus the DUP plus those 5 labour mps had voted for it we’d have left 6 months ago. Whatever Labour or the Liberals and SNP did.

It’s looking more and more likely that the only options on the table will be remain and no deal, and that’s the battleground on which the election will be fought.

Which are you?

Telling language used by Tusk today I thought and the anger on display from the EU tells me that things are not going exactly as they want.

Always gets tetchy as the deadline approaches.

EFTA.

It doesn't matter what options are presented to me. I will continue to advocate what I believe in, even if it's in the minority as you so claim. I refuse to allow people such as yourself to back me into a corner of remaining or no deal, both of which I abhore.

What the nation decides is what the nation decides. I advocate leaving the EU with a deal, and the deal that is as close to my preferred outcome of EFTA membership, or the stipulations that closely resemble such an outcome, will be the one I support.

If no such offer is presented, I will not support either.

Thanks for your reply and being able to give a sensible honest answer . I don’t religiously read every post . Am I right that to join EFTA you also have to be part of the Schengen area ?
