He thinks Brexit is about sovereignty - bless.

Truth is, of course, it's all about money. Isn't it always ?

The obscenely wealthy want to be even more obscenely wealthy and the moderately wealthy are happy to help them for a cut.

Naive doesn't begin to cover it.

As I said on the original thread many, many moons ago, lube up because we (the people) are going to get arse fucked.
Ahh wondered when you'd perk up.

All these conspiracy theories, love it!

I think they will, as they’ve said they’re going to “look at it”.
Who the opposition?

Look how many Tories fail to agree with their current Government. There's no way repealing the HRA would pass in Parliament, and even if, by some bizarre twist of events it did, that same government would lose power and the next Government formed would easily win on a restoring HRA policy.

I think the Tories will try, not the opposition, or at least some will.

Whether it gets through or not will depend on if Johnson gets a majority and if they whip.

This isn’t some made up prediction, they themselves have spoken many a time over their dislike of the HRA, even under May.

Top tip:

If you share a link to support a position, and that link makes no mention of the position you want it to support, expect people will pull you up on it.

In fairness to @kevin horlocks wand I read the other day that the E27 lead by France have concerns about the U.K. diverging/abandoning EU standards on worker protections and consumer rights and there being a race to the bottom which in turn will make any future FTA more problematic.

Of course I may have misread it too :)

You genuinely think the HRA is going to be repealed by a Tory Government...

I think Project Fear has muddled your brain. The ECHR is not the same as the EU. The EU applies all laws the ECHR agrees, and membership of the bloc requires members to conform to the ECHR. We gave it our own fancy name, but it in essence is the same thing.

We cannot repeal it as a member of the EU. If we leave we have the choice to repeal it, but such an act would never pass a vote in Parliament. Better?

It has been a long standing aim by the Tories to repeal the ECHR and replace it with a British Bill of Rights meaning rights will only apply to people we approve of (ie no foreigners or people with long hair, people with short hair, Scots etc) rather than everyone.

And it's never happened, never reached fruition, regardless of our membership of the EU, there's no support of repealing it if we leave, not amongst Parliament, not amongst the populous and not even amongst most Conservative MP's.

They know it's a vote loser.

I'm gonna go with... "condescending" for this one.

Repealing the ECHR might even be beyond the **** tbh, but I'm sure he'll try.

It’s never happened because it’s currently impossible.

There’s no support in the opposition but there’s plenty in the Tory Party and they can whip.

Wasn’t it a manifesto pledge?

I’m not saying it’s a definite, I can just see them moving towards it and if they do I hope they get battered at the ballots.

So what was all that "other leavers know about the EU" BS all about? I feel like I have to explain things over and over with you guys because your rage clouds your rationality when you read my posts.

Tories can promise what they like, reality is no Parliament or opposition will ever back a call to repeal the HRA. You're fretting over something exceptionally unlikely.

You corrected, rather than explained, yourself.

Which it will, which is why I find fearing it, fanciful.

It's possible that the Tories could reintroduce, what was it, chimney sweeping? Workhouses? I forget the hyperbolic language people were using last year, but it made me roll my eyes then and talk of repealing the HRA does the exact same thing. It will never happen, so why fret about it?

Brexit is the only thing that plenty of current Tory MPs disagree with their government on, generally they are pretty sheeplike in sticking to whatever they are told to say. I'm not saying a tory government would repeal the HRA but as others have said, they have mooted it and generally they are the sort of cunts who would do it.

Is it realistically going to happen?

No. And around and around and around we go...

It's hopeless. Apparently they won an election on a manifesto of abolishing Labour's Human Rights Act (not the people's Human Rights Act) and not to worry because they will not fulfil the election pledge. So why is he so annoyed about not fulfilling the election pledges to make us Leave the EU?

The reality - and it is very very obvious - is that Remainers want a 2nd referendum so that if they win that then that will be us remaining - and of course they want to load the question in their favour with Remain against a deal that has been negotiated with the UK hamstrung by the sycophants at Westminster - so not as good a deal as we could get

Of course - whilst if they win - that will be it - if Leave win it will just be them starting again the same fucking about as they have for 3 years

If there was to be a referendum it should be the negotiated deal against No-Deal

That would have the benefit of respecting democracy - and of course we would then see the EU shift to offer a better deal
So this better deal that we could get. What is it and who could get it?

Who knows. You may think that it is a vote loser but there is plenty of muisinformation about the Human Rights Act and people lump it in with political correctness supposedly going mad and the EU banning bendy bananas. They'll believe any old shit that Richard Littlejohn or Katie Hopkins tell them.
