I would suggest that you look at the EFTA technical barriers too trade clause .... which relates to safety protections / environmental protections etc .... which means that the removal of the 'Level playing field' means we will never qualify ...
I advocate joining the EFTA, BoJo doesn't.

Take up your issues about FOM with him, but do not claim I support his ideas. K!? The EU seems to like the deal you know since they helped negotiate it.

Yet it's the extremes on both sides dictating the narrative...

I’m not sure ardent remainers are dictating anything.

Those on the extreme of the Brexit side are both much worse and hold much more sway, as it’s who those in power think they need to appease.

They also voted against the WA which would have ended the first stage and we'd be on the second discussing trade by now, possibly even concluding it by the end of the year.

Finally.

The FTA should have been done and agreed first and the WA would then have been a formality imo.

That’s not a possibility or a sensible way of leaving. The terms in which you withdraw must be agreed first and trade 2nd. If you cannot agree a deal to leave, you then go onto WTO, which makes the point of agreeing a FTA prior, ridiculous.

Leverage. The EU wanted the time pressure of A50 to get what they wanted. Now using the time pressure of Johnson’s self imposed deadline to get what they want. Too late to get back...unless we revoke A50 and try a different approach. Which we won’t do so yeah. Stuffed I think is the technical term.

Both sides did, as well as many who are moderate.

Many just saw it as a bad deal. This one Johnson is going for is only mildly preferable.

Im happy that you have wrapped yourself up in the EU have got everything they wanted blanket Bob.

See. all along i told you a deal would be done that had both sides claiming victory and that saved face all around.

Politics eh ;-)

Nope. Consent and VAT the issues. Latter requires NI to remain in the EU VAT area for the all Ireland economy to work no matter what happens. It’s sort of like a NI backstop.
Good to know Peston knows more than the President of France

Getting a lot of support from the EU side though.

Surely you're not going to disagree with the EU on this?

Bless. It’s taken three years to sort out three issues and still not done. The future trade deal will be way more difficult and contentious. You’re looking at 2025 as a minimum.

Oh good, just in time to coincide with us going zero carbon!

At this stage we have don’t know without seeing the legal text. But given the EU side is doing it’s utmost to bounce everyone into agreeing something tonight and London isn’t tells you were the problems lie and who is making the major concessions.

I mean come on you ain’t stupid we all know what the score is.

If I did gifs Id search for the devil is in the detail.

Of which we currently know little, yet many are accusing others of supporting heinous things without even knowing them.

We're (at current) happy that talks are going well and a deal looks likely. That view may change once we know these "details".

Jolyon Maughan coming in with big legal challenge concerning a bill that was passed recently at the request of the ERG that NI cannot be treated differently.
Petition going in tonight.
