He was the Foreign Secretary and the members of his Cabinet were against it.

He didn’t “reopen” the Withdrawal Agreement, he took the Irish part of another one offered and added it.

Foreign secretary with a prime minister who didn’t listen and arranged a deal that forced him to quit...

They’ve removed the backstop and changed the deal to a free trade agreement. It’s completely different from the last deal. The last deal which most remainers said was impossible to change.

I get you don’t want us to leave, but surely some credit must go to Johnson as he’s got a deal. A reasonable and fair deal. Surely you want that. Rather then another pointless extension or no deal ?

Not that simple is it. A tory brexit is a million miles away from a labour brexit. Any deal that erodes workers rights and costs people jobs will not be a vote winner for Labour. Without seeing the detail it is hard to know what this deal is like but it is a fairly safe guess to assume it is nothing like the CM2 type deal that S Kinock has been pushing.

What exactly is a labour brexit?? You’d be the first person in the uk to know that

They’ve rejected every deal or option.

Gove.
"The backstop has gone. The people of Northern Ireland can decide"

Giving them a referendum or expecting Stourmont to reopen?

That Unicorn might have bolted.

With no legal text and Boris 'the liar' Johnson behind it how could any Labour MP vote for it?

* I fully expect Kate Hoey and John Mann to vote for it *

I just hope if Johnson tries putting the to a vote Bercow kicks this one out. How can you possible have a vote on what is a draft (these are the words of chief EU negoitiator Barnier), agreement. There is every possibility that this can be agreed by 31st October so lets wait until then.

Pretty clear that it’s going to result in a second referendum I think.

Not that clear but I hope so.

Would need almost full Labour + tory indies backing which will be tough but do-able. That would be to win an amendment vote.

Then they would have to hold firm on the main vote.

Then you have the issue of the Government not wanting to carry that through so it would need either a National unity government or a GE. That is the bit they will be wrestling with. How do you implement a 2nd Ref against the wishes of the tory Gov.

What about the Labour voting leave areas?

Are their MP's seriously going to go against their wishes at the final hurdle and on the basis of what?

if I voted Labour and leave, why would I vote for Labour again if their policy is to ignore me and half heartedly negotiate a deal that they will reject for remain?

Rejecting this deal is electoral suicide for those in Labour leave seats.
They are attempting to protect workers rights.

Farage has just spoken on BBC and he hates the new deal, clean break blah blah - anyway makes the likelihood of a pact at the GE with Tories highly unlikely which changes the dynamics

Indeed it does, which is good. But do you not now see that other side of a 2nd ref. requirement? otherwise, the extremes will keep pulling.

They are attempting to protect workers rights.

Based upon what?

Given the text hasn't been published - what is in the deal that removes workers rights?

Or is it on the basis of leaving the EU in which case there is no deal that is acceptable then, not even the one Labour would negotiate.
