Extinction Rebellion

ER spokesman on the news now saying the guy up Big Ben is having a bit of fun and protesting in a fun way.
tell that to the emergency services who i bet are pissing themselves with laughter whilst the streets below have had to be shut off.

This is what we are up against.

sniper would sort him out.

An organic pea shooter to get him down with a giant silk spiders web to catch him?

an army one would do. The landing would be up to them. Would they risk the hypocrisy of having to have something man made to break their fall? They could pull a Sherlock but would forever be known as a hypocrite.

Top work fella

Yep he can wear his rap sheet as a badge of honour for the rest of his life.

He probably isn't that arsed though as the world ends a week on Thursday ;-)

You are right a criminal record isn’t the end of the world. Some people just have different priorities I guess.

What has the rainbow flag got to do with ER? Sometimes I think all these protestors are the same paid protestors on other causes.

They have a right to protest but the problem now is that they, rather than their cause, have become the story. You're hardly likely to go home after being delayed because some twat has blocked the road, glued themselves to your train or otherwise significantly disrupted your life and think "You know, they've got a point".

Well they haven’t been doing these things so drastically and annoying people for decades so by this logic everybody has already got the point. And back in the real world the powers that be need to be dragged kicking and screaming to do even a little bit. They believe that more drastic measures are required to move things along. If someone is late home from work one time then although this must be shattering for them tough shit.

What a world we live in when missing the beginning of pointless is the most important thing in their lives. I was all on board with this climate stuff but I missed zander and the flag question, fuck em I don’t care if people drown now sniff. And species of animals being wiped out fuck em I’ve been waiting for the ABBA hits question for years

A death cult led by a charismatic idiot savant isn’t going to save the world.

They’ve had their moment in the sun.

Anyway, I've come to the conclusion that taken overall then Extinction Rebellion are probably a good thing.

We don't have enough civil disobedience any more so fair fucks to them for going the extra step. People don't listen to protests because they are essentially sitting in a corner with a flag while people with better things to do rubberneck on the way to work. Civil disobedience gets under people's skin, forces them to think about the issue even if they think the person is a twunt.

Politics in this country is far too sanitised now. If the Stop Brexit brigade had started REALLY getting in people's way then I'm sure that we'd have had a different outcome there.
The UK has a proud history of civil disobedience, one of the most legendary of all UK hero's was Robin Hood, he is now celebrated and civil disobedience was very much his bag.

Its no coincidence the capitalist establishment tried to infer that there was the "Robin Hood Tax" it was an effort to delegitimise disobedience. Now all civil disobedience is seen as creating problems for normal people, like for those who commute to go and clean the establishments offices etc. It is a threat to the establishment, not to the normal people.

I dont believe you have to support the particular cause, but for historical reasons you have to support civil disobedience as a means to end. It challenges the establishement. Brexit could be viewed as an act of quiet civil disobedience as it went against the establisments wishes and has caused huge disruption.

Robin Hood was real?

These "Extinction Rebellion" people have a very worthy cause but they should start their protests in the countries that are amongst the worst pollutors.

Start in China, Russia and Iran - that should be very amusing.
