Bet some of your wives and girlfriends are going to be gutted when this is over and you’re not chained to this thread 12 hours a day. It’ll mean they will have to talk to you again, and none of them really want that...

You need help finding the door?

In his defence he did ask the Attorney General for advice on whether it was illegal and the answer he received back from Cox was a ‘no’.

However it’s obvious for everyone to see that he’s lied to the Queen and I cannot condone that, considering she is in a position of having to go with the Prime Minister at all opportunities.

Who knows, I wouldn’t trust those brave heart obsessives with anything.

It wasn't illegal, it isn't illegal now.

The court found the length of time he intended to be unlawful.

She was a fucking idiot Bob, and you know it. Politics is a sales game, and she couldn't sell water to a dying man in the desert...
Because some liar by the name of Boris Johnson told the dying man that the water was poisonous and no dying man could possibly accept it.

Almost as bad as lying about reopening parliament to have a debate, when in fact it was just one day of congratulating the Speaker, and three days of abusing each other. I'm no fan of the PM btw, but anyone, seeking to criticise him from the high moral pedestal of telling the truth ought to make sure they have removed the glass from their greenhouse prior to throwing stones. That's a pop at parliament btw, not you.

Has anything been done n the days they have been back sitting other than another amendment to kick the can down the road a bit longer?

The abuse and mutual backslapping aside of course?

No it isn’t “almost as bad”, it’s actually infinitely worse.

Listen to what you are saying man.

Opening parliament for whatever reason doesn’t take anything away from our democracy, that’s an impossibility. Closing it for political gain IS taking away from our democracy, as we’re a representative parliament and denying our representatives the opportunity to debate or vote on amendments, is antidemocratic.

You don’t like the speaker, that’s why you’re annoyed about that.

Parliament lies, politicians lie, yes true but it’s the effects and the long-standing damage, brought on by the actions and gravitas of said lies, that makes what Johnson did much worse.

Thankfully the courts have not allowed a precedent to be set, for future leaders of our country.
Manipulation of parliamentary procedure to suit personal political goals is wrong whoever does it. We all pick the lies that suit our own view I suppose.

No. I'd imagine, any delay gained now for 'scrutiny' will be similarly squandered. They have the cheek to accuse Johnson of wasting time.

I want what the vote remain main 2 men said we would have to have if we voted to leave and that meant and end to our membership of the SM, CU and FOM.

I could live with less but that wasn't what the PM, Chancellor and the government remain campaign said we would have if we voted to leave.
I want what at least one of the main two leave men (and the official Leave campaign) said... A FTZFITTRB

Real world it does not work like that.

My old town Heywood and Middleton.

Voted to leave, voted a Labour MP in after that vote on a manifesto promise to leave and she knew it and said she agreed.

Now on facebook claiming she has had letters from 80% of her constituents saying they want to remain and they want as second or confirmatory ref which is funnily enough Labour new policy.

My arse she has had letters for 80% constituents on any matter, never mind brexit and going off the replies on her facebook, they have told her to stop fucking telling lies and to look for another job come the next GE.

She is representing herself and her bosses wish alone.

I always like “ the people on the doorstep are telling me they want the exact same thing that the party is offering” what an absolute stroke of luck that the people in your constituent want exactly what you’re selling. its great when all your voters change their mind at the exact same time as their MP and happily tell them.

I also like the slogan vote for Bob Arkwright he will represent those who didn’t vote for him and disagree with you.

Thanks for the contribution, I’m sure all sides of the argument are grateful for your input.
I’m sure they are more than happy to continue to repeat the same arguments over and over as they have for the previous thousands of pages and ignore a little lighthearted quip.

Stick around then.

You can waffle on about our wives and girlfriends.......
I pop my head in from time to time but that’s more than enough to see the same posters regurgitating the same arguments and nobody really moving much in their original stances. Good on you all for sticking with it. It hurts my head reading a lot of it.

For what it’s worth I agree that the hostility is too much, hence the repeated (largely ignored) requests for people to keep things civil. It’s very much from both sides though.
I guess that when you post in the role of ' just another poster' on this thread - rather than as a Mod - it is OK to reply to you in that manner?

Respectfully I genuinely think that you are really wrong on this and you are simply reflecting your opinion based on the way you read things - or do you have some analytics to support/prove that there is balance?

Equally - I can fully accept that my firm opinion that the scale of hostile/snide/demeaning posts on here is massively one-sided - could also just be down to my bias and therefore I also could have it really wrong.

As you know - I tend to keep strange hours and catch up during the wee hours - so I am willing to put some effort in to bring an end to the uncertainty and establish the truth of the situation by undertaking some analysis

I can guarantee I will do so in a manner that ensures any grey areas are decided against my personal view just to make sure that the results cannot be called into question.

Who knows - perhaps some of the more casually hostile/snide posting will reduce if those that do it know that it is being counted. I am happy to include myself in that - even though I am pretty certain that my more exasperated posts are almost exclusively in response to someone being personally argumentative.

As this will only be an expense of my time - I think that you will agree that it would help if I take the trouble to do this and that the results will be informative.

It could be called democratic daves democratic democracy thread and everyone who disagrees with him could be thread banned from it until they see sense ;-)

I can’t comment until dave tells me how to I’m afraid, I may respond later if he has the time to impart his truthful wisdom upon me.

Sometimes it’s been hard to tell. :-)

FYI my wife got up and walked out in between the 3rd and 4th vote on Mays deal.

I tried to get an amendment passed that would stop he and went to the Scottish courts to get an injunction but it failed.

She has now filed for divorce claiming my incessant and loud screaming of "Division.....clear the lobby" was a factor in her walking out.

Come on that’s pedantic, you know I meant that Cox briefed the whole thing, including duration, was legal.

Because he believed it was and it was until the court made a judgement to say otherwise.

That's how courts and judgements work or at least i think they do as i am no lawyer?
