He's the most dishonest of the lot.

The deal on the table satisfies the criteria of "Leaving the EU" perfectly, and delivers on pretty much everything he wants. That he is effectively only going to be happy with "no deal", which is clearly vastly inferior, tells me he has er, "other motivations". I.e. is bent.
Correct. He also doesn’t want his MEP salary and benefits to dry up yet.

Conjecture based on your own confirmation bias.
Don’t think Johnson being a liar is conjecture, and the government have predicted that the economy will be worse out of the EU but they might be wrong along with nearly all independent organisations whose job is to predict these sorts of things.

EFTA/EEA would have been closest to delivering on all of them.

EFTA would definitely yes but the problem is that EFTA is mint wanted, generally speaking and the government in 2016 specifically said that a vote to leave is one to leave the CU and SM.

While I don't dispute Johnson's record as a liar, it's perhaps worth noting that his intentions and actions since September are probably more consistent and transparent than those who scream accusations at him the loudest. Many of whom are the ones that since September have pretended they wanted a deal, pretended they wanted a GE, and also told us it was impossible to reopen brexit negotiations or get a deal.
I suppose it depends which lies suit ones own view - much like project fear lies vs leave lies.

He didn't lie when he said he would get negotiations opened, the backstop removed and a deal before Parliament.

As for politicians lying in general...its the default position and probably the priority skill for any decent one who wants to climb the ladder.

Hardly news and shouldn't be a shock.

We could list every lie told by a politician for say the last 20 years but i fear we would break the internet and not have enough time anyway.

It’s the nature in which he’s lied though and how he’s misled the Queen, that doesn’t sit right with me.

We have no idea as to whether he misled the Queen or not because that conversation is private and will remain so mate.

He prorogued Parliament and it was only the court and judges moving the goalposts that found his action unlawful and then it was only the amount of time he did it for.

Yes he tried it on and he got told no but it wasn't the crime of the century it was made out to be and one of the men that took him to court did similar and for far longer but though tit was ok and a fair political tactic at the time.

We know he lied because of what he said in public. He’s consistently claimed it wasn’t to stop the debate/opportunity to overthrow no deal.

The Queen would be obliged to deny the speech, if he’d have said that to her in private and therefore obviously didn’t.

It wasn’t crime of the century but it was incredibly poor to do so.

Deliberately using the Head of State as a tactic to suspend parliament, for your own political gain, is very poor behaviour when your constitution is the way it is.

They are all liars. They ignore the truth and carry on lying to themselves and anyone who will listen. Critical thinking appears to be completely beyond them.

Leavers - we won get it done
Me - but it will be massively damaging
Leaver - yeah but we voted and we won
Me - the promises leave made were nonsense
Leaver - yeah but we voted
Me - why are we doing this ? It’s madness, we are all going to be worse off in so many ways
Leaver - fuck off ! We want our prize !
Me - but there is no prize, not for ordinary people anyway
Leaver - fuck off ! I don’t care I wanna crash out !
Me - you’re deranged
Walks away

Well you can’t argue with someone who is right and speaks the truth, feel a bit silly now. Why didn’t you tell us over 3 years ago. Imagine all the hassle we would have saved if you hadn’t kept this to yourself.

If you could start a dave_blue12 says thread we can all avoid such mistakes in the future on all manner of stuff.

He will stick to that story.

Judges made a judgement of law to say differently but thats the law and interpretation and for every lawyer or judge saying one thing you will find others the opposite.

Its chip paper now anyway and we are onto the courts again Monday i think with the SNP so who knows what they are trying next?

Almost as bad as lying about reopening parliament to have a debate, when in fact it was just one day of congratulating the Speaker, and three days of abusing each other. I'm no fan of the PM btw, but anyone, seeking to criticise him from the high moral pedestal of telling the truth ought to make sure they have removed the glass from their greenhouse prior to throwing stones. That's a pop at parliament btw, not you.

In his defence he did ask the Attorney General for advice on whether it was illegal and the answer he received back from Cox was a ‘no’.

However it’s obvious for everyone to see that he’s lied to the Queen and I cannot condone that, considering she is in a position of having to go with the Prime Minister at all opportunities.

Who knows, I wouldn’t trust those brave heart obsessives with anything.

Bet some of your wives and girlfriends are going to be gutted when this is over and you’re not chained to this thread 12 hours a day. It’ll mean they will have to talk to you again, and none of them really want that...

No it isn’t “almost as bad”, it’s actually infinitely worse.

Listen to what you are saying man.

Opening parliament for whatever reason doesn’t take anything away from our democracy, that’s an impossibility. Closing it for political gain IS taking away from our democracy, as we’re a representative parliament and denying our representatives the opportunity to debate or vote on amendments, is antidemocratic.

You don’t like the speaker, that’s why you’re annoyed about that.

Parliament lies, politicians lie, yes true but it’s the effects and the long-standing damage, brought on by the actions and gravitas of said lies, that makes what Johnson did much worse.

Thankfully the courts have not allowed a precedent to be set, for future leaders of our country.

Thanks for the contribution, I’m sure all sides of the argument are grateful for your input.
