Or we’d revoke and immediately call a GE and the fans of Brexit can vote for a party that wants the shit show to carry on and the rest of us can vote for a party that wants to focus on what’s good for the country.
Hmmm .... I'm not sure if there's a HoC majority for Revoke. There's certainly a majority against the absolute folly of No Deal, so it would come down to whether (a) Labour could embrace Revoke and (b) enough Labour MPs would rebel. Of course, the next twist would be the EU adding - "but of course you can have an extension if it's for a referendum on this deal v Revoke Article 50".

I agree there’d be no majority for revoke without the alternative being a totally unacceptable deal or no deal. With that choice all bets are off.

I think this deserves a re-post:

My brief phoning session tonight suggests that a lot of people are out at 7pm on a Saturday night, and most Labour voters just don't share your Marxist project fear.
Shame there aren't a few more of them. Half the traditional Labour voters can't stand the Marxist's guts.

Of course it isn't. I said it was a possibility. You seem to have ruled it out.

No, I haven’t ruled it out, but at the moment the opposition don’t look like agreeing to an election. So unless that impasse is resolved there’s no chance of any party getting a majority. Hence my original post, take emotion and party allegiance out of this process and my feeling is that a second referendum is the only way to get it sorted correctly and as quickly as possible. As Boris would say, it would get Brexit done.

Maybe we are a cross purposes?

I agree there is an issue in that if not enough Labour MPs support another GE, then we won't be having one.

But if they do, I see every possiblity of Tory majority. And I am putting party politics aside on saying that. Bear in mind (a) Labour start from a position of being about 50 seats behind, before a vote is cast. (b) their vote will be hopelessly split between Marxists and Lib Dem and (c) Corbyn's popularity is at an all time low.

If the current 10 to 15 point Tory lead in the polls was maintained in a GE, they'd have a comfortable majority.

Heard someone on the radio today say, if the Tory’s are so confident of winning a majority they could make an offer to labour to revoke A50 in return for them agreeing to an election. That would rule out no deal for labour so they’d have no reason to say no to an election. It’s a gamble for the Tory’s but they’d get the election they want and could campaign on leaving the EU as soon as they are in power?

I’ve no idea if that’s feasible but it’s an option to move it along. I can’t see labour agreeing to an election now, they dont just want no deal ruled out during this proposed extension but they want it ruled out full stop.
