Our supporters always respect any tributes /silences for our own and opposing teams , we have been impeccable ever since i started watching the club in the 60's , but what is annoying at the Etihad is that everyone inside the stadium are silent but the noise from the various concourses in the ground with supporters downing a last pint etc., the sound is quite audible. Is it too much for the club to tell stewards and even the bar staff to ask the fans on the concourse to observe the silence.

We didn’t have a silence today, everyone in the stands started clapping after The Last Post when that’s not what you’re supposed to do as that’s when we’re supposed to have a two minutes’ silence.

But I do agree, people should be in their seats earlier for these things in general.

It’s understandable that it happens, and it doesn’t really bother me, but agree that more could be done. Stewards telling people on the concourse what is happening would solve it pretty easily.

they made an announcement at the back of SS3 at about 2.45 to tell people

Yeah, we had a similar announcement in the North Stand and think it helped to some extent. Bigger problem is the late arrivers though. Do think the stewards on the concourse could be more proactive. Not that it’s a major problem or owt, but feels like it could be easily solved. Don’t think anyone actually wants to disrespect that particular minute’s silence.

Well do it at the away game then ?
I guess they see it as an opportunity to specifically mourn those related to City who died in the wars. Literally every other club does it as far as I know. Christ, can you imagine the grief we’d get in the media if we didn’t?! Tbh, think it’s a bit weird that you’re questioning it.

Don't know why you think its weird. I'm at the cenotaph every year on remembrance Sunday. Its next weekend.

Just think it’s odd that you question why City do it in their nearest home game to Remembrance Sunday, when all other clubs do the same thing. Each to their own though.

Whats odd is having a remembrance day on what is not remembrance sunday (or weekend) and them some folks complaining that some fans didn't adhere to it or behaved in a way that wasn't acceptable to them.
As you say, each to their own.

Fair enough. Still feels like a really fucking odd thing to be annoyed about (the war dead can only be remembered on this specific day) but I’ll leave it there.

I'm not annoyed. The OP and others are because they don't think it was done right.

I was at a remembrance service in London and saw the last surviving veterans of the 1914-18 war, three or four old soldiers all around 106, very moving.
(Mind, wasn't there an article last week about a bunch of civil servants who weren't sure how long the Second WW lasted?)

I think that was the candidates on the Apprentice mate but I get your point.

The OP is making a general point about minute silences from what I can tell. You were the one who decided to make it a a specific issue about Rememberance Sunday, and when it should or should not be commemorated.

I didn't make it about remembrance Sunday, it is about remembrance Sunday. Its next week.

From my point of view I thought our tribute today was spot on, I didn't know we had a team of service veterans who supported City, and a bunch of lads who (judging from their ages) must have been involved in some the most grim conflicts since the second world war. I thought the guy playing last post was brilliant, it must be very difficult to play that, and in front of more than 50000 people it takes some balls, as a bugle must be the easiest instrument to get wrong, I thought the whole thing was very moving personally, and we got it spot on.
