The Labour Party

  • Giving everyone full rights from day one on the job.
  • Strengthening protections for whistleblowers and rights against unfair dismissal for all workers, with extra protections for pregnant women, those going through the menopause and terminally ill workers.
  • Ending bogus self-employment and creating a single status of ‘worker’ for everyone apart from those genuinely self-employed in business on their own account, so that employers can not evade workers’ rights; and banning overseas-only recruitment practices.
  • Introducing a legal right to collective consultation on the implementation of new technology in workplaces.
  • Banning zero-hour contracts and strengthening the law so that those who work regular hours for more than 12 weeks will have a right to a regular contract, reflecting those hours.
We will help people balance work and family life by:

  • Increasing wages through sectoral collective bargaining.
  • Requiring breaks during shifts to be paid.
  • Requiring cancelled shifts to be paid and proper notice for changes in hours.
  • Giving all workers the right to flexible working.
  • Extending statutory maternity pay from nine to 12 months.
  • Doubling paternity leave from two weeks to four and increasing statutory paternity pay.
  • Introducing statutory bereavement leave, guaranteeing workers time off to grieve the loss of close family members or following miscarriage.
  • Introducing four new bank holidays celebrating our four patron saints’ days.
  • Reviewing family-friendly employment rights, including rights to respond to family emergencies.
We will make sure people are treated equally at work by:

  • Requiring employers to devise and implement plans to eradicate the gender pay gap – and pay inequalities underpinned by race and/or disability – or face fines.
  • Requiring employers to maintain workplaces free of harassment, including harassment by third parties.
  • Increasing protection against redundancy for people wherever they work.
  • Giving statutory rights to equalities representatives.
  • Setting up a Royal Commission to bring health (including mental health) and safety legislation up to date.
  • Ensuring that public-facing workers are protected by toughening the law against abuse and violence.
    Banning unpaid internships.

Ok so where do we all stand on this who is opposed to the above ?

Me as I want to work zero hours contracts. I want to do consultancy work so I can work the hours I want to work and decide what work I take on or not. This bollox above just means companies will refuse my services as they will think it’s too much hassle as I get all kinds of employment protections neither of us want.

Honestly, reading it again, I think the old fool has completely lost the plot.

I don't know whether it's because he's seen the shambles which is Johnson and the Tory campaign and decided to push the boat out, or whether he knows he's going to lose, so may as well go out with a bang? But that is perhaps the most ridiculous set of manifesto pledges I have ever seen. It's staggeringly, shockingly bonkers. Off the scale bonkers. There can barely be an international firm in the UK who would not be drawing up their relocation plans if they believed that lot was coming.

Has it got idiot McCluskey's paw prints all over it I wonder? Or evil Marxist McDonnell? Either which way, it is a manifesto to destroy the UK, either by accident or by design.

One of the worst bits is that landlords (probably evil and greedy) can only put rents up by inflation . Cue a load of people ditching the private landlord sector and people claiming there isn’t enough affordable property to rent anymore especially in London . No shit Sherlock because nobody wants to be a bloody landlord anymore .

According to the BBC his spending pledges would increase government spending by £83bn a year by 2024. That's equivalent 11p on the basic rate of income tax for all 31 million tax payers!

Are people so utterly gullible to imagine that by taxing 5% of the population and businesses by just a bit more, all of this can be paid for without affecting anyone else?

Good grief people, wake up, FFS.

"Increasing wages through sectoral collective blackmailing" (Sorry "bargaining").

Corbyn: "It is sometimes claimed I am anti-business".

Cobryn: "It is sometimes claimed I am anti-business". Well no fucking shit, Sherlock.

Look at the shite above from an employers' perspective. Just look at it.

Where is there ANYTHING in there that is pro-business?

I know that you would sooner have a bonfire with regulations like Boris and have it all

Not withstanding this is just one aspect of the manifesto that's all and there's plenty more like the broadband roll out and investment in infrastructure.

But do you know what investing in people and looking after your employees does actually pay off with less absenteeism and higher productivity.

I think that you might have the wrong end of the stick here because this is more about the likes Weatherspoons, Sports Direct Deliveroo and Uber. I have a clients who are just like you but in IT and I don't see how this could be applied to project based type of work.

You just cannot get your head around the fact that I am not a rich toff, can you. It's beyond your and your comrades' intellectual capacity to imagine that normal working class lads like me could possibly see this pile of shite for what it is.

is it, so what is he going to do list a load of companies on a naughty list that are bad and must give consultants immediate employment rights, like sports direct. Is JD ok?

but those companies and sectors that labour think are ok are exempt.

how does it apply to seasonal work or summer work , you kNow like how now restaurants and staff are taking on staff now and you say in your first bullet.these people get FULL employment rights from day one?

IFS rejects Labour's claim 95% of taxpayers would not need to pay extra to fund its 'colossal' spending programme
Paul Johnson, the director of the Institute for Fiscal Studies, the tax and spending thinktank, has told ITV News that he does not believe Labour’s claim 95% of taxpayers would not need to pay more under its spending plans. He said:

It is impossible to understate just how extraordinary this manifesto is just in terms of the sheer scale of money being spent and raised through the tax system: hundreds of billions of additional spending on investment, £80bn plus per year on spending on day to day things, social security, spending on the NHS, student loans and so on, and matched by supposedly an £80bn increase in tax.

These are vast numbers, enormous, colossal, in the context of anything we’ve seen in the last - ever, really.

So much for spending on infrastructure investment! £80bn a year extra is needs just to pay the bloody day to day bills!

Staggeringly, monumentally stupid on a scale of stupidity never seen before.

Does it apply to all businesses regardless of size ?

But it much happier news, the very latest poll out today - IPSOS MORI - now has the Tories a whopping 16 points clear. Way to go Jeremy!

The option of not leaving the EU is the most pro-business policy of them all.

Hahahahahaha. (Not laughing at you by the way!)

The irony being, that isn't even Labour policy!

But seriously mate, leaving the EU would be a mere bagatelle compared to the single-handed trashing of our economy which this would do. Surely you can see that? I know you're a passionate Remainer, as I was. But genuinely I really don't think it will be that bad - I would not be voting for it if I did. We'll end up with an EU trade deal of sorts and OK, yes, growth might be a bit lower, but the world will keep spinning. Corbyn would see the country literally bankrupt. I mean literally. As in Greece.

Every single small/medium sized business owner in the country.

Labour's second referendum is the only real chance left of remaining.

A Corbyn government will tax the rich and big business and will hurt me badly but they won't bankrupt the country. That's hyperbole. And the policies will help the disadvantaged, which matters. I don't like him or his policies but phrases like bankrupcy are tabloid scaremongering. The Brexit debate has been distilled down to the economy but for me there is much more at stake than just growth. It's about the very fabric of the country, it's about collaboration and sharing and most importantly of all, it's about being part of one of the three main blocs in the worlds. Being cast adrift from that will ruin the country for decades until the youth invariably turn it over and rejoin.

In short, a few years of Corbyn will not hurt the economy or the country anything like as much as leaving the EU - especially without a deal, as is a real possibility with these inept morons in charge.
