Why?

It's usually someone who knows someone coming up with these stories, never 'I'm in this situation and this is what it's actually like'.

I've a couple of good friends I've known since school that have never claimed benefits in their lives, and they're of the mindset that life on social security is a breeze. I told them of my financial struggles being my mothers full time carer brought me, then being on job seekers allowance after my caring role ended making it worse.

I didn't know how to play the system was their informed opinion.

My experience of living on social security was far from comfortable. My brother was sending me £300 a month while I was living on JSA until I found a job, just so I could get by. It was impossible to survive without that lifeline.
