Really ? ........ the Eu will run the clock down negotiating ... until at the 11th hour the UK will accept anything thats on the table whether it's a good deal for us or not. There goes your precious fisheries (not that you ever lost them in the first plaice- see what I did there).

It does seem strange to self-impose another deadline, after the last attempt went so poorly.

Still the markets seem to love the idea (ahem).

Don't think you've been keeping up with brexit over the last few years lol, brexiteers always blame something or someone when it goes wrong.
They don't have remainers as an excuse anymore because of a majority in parliament so the EU will likely be their next target
This is right up there as a contender in the 'load of bollocks' awards

When/what? - there has been 3 years of Remainers whinging on and blaming anything and everything for Brexit happening - especially the 'gullibility' of Leavers etc. - there has been no Brexit to go wrong yet.

But all of a sudden the UK electorate get the opportunity to have their say - again - and all the bollocks and untruths are blown away

Must be butt-hurting for some

He has also taken out the “no regression of workers rights “ bit from the new withdrawal act.

tin hat time.......
Oh - exciting times and a sign that the tears of stagnation and paralysis are to be blown away.

Happily I have only got a little bit of work to finish and I can turn my attention to this exciting news.

Got any more to add to that? - or shall I just accept it as a clear demonstration of you not having any understanding of negotiations and therefore cannot grasp why I said what I said?
Not really because you clearly don't understand how international trade works.
Over half of our imports come from the EU so they have got us bent over a barrel. Putting a tight time frame on that doesn't help us in any way accept accelerate the incoming catastrophe

TBF, I cannot remember clearly, but I think that you are one of those on here that have previously demonstrated that you have no experience/understanding of major negotiations - but I may be wrong as there are so many

But either way that statement is a pretty good example

I need to look more into the news - but on the face of it Johnson does it seems have people that understand these matters in his corner which is great news for the long-term future of the UK. This move will be driven by people that know how to prepare for entering into negotiations - unlike May's lackey.

Focusing the EU?
Fucking laughable!
Gun boats ready to be sent next!
Barnier will not be laughing

Being, it seems, a top professional he will be gathering his leading advisors and holding detailed meetings to try and work out the UK's new aims from the coming months and establish the EU's negotiation positions.

From a POV of observing high level negotiations - this has become a whole lot more interesting. I do hope that I am not reading too much into it, but it does seem that Johnson (or at least his team) is going to get on the front foot and negotiate rather than receive direction like May did via Robbins.

All/some of the diehard Remainers may hate that idea - but they really should not - they should support it.

As I mentioned earlier the die is cast now - we are leaving and we are leaving in the shape Johnson's team decides. Best to stop being partisan and hoping for bad things to happen to stop Brexit - it is not happening

This is the time to move on and start supporting your nation and hoping for good outcomes

Yeah I retract, brexit has obviously gone swimmingly well.
Not at all - Brexit has been managed by incompetent Remainers to date and subject to being undermined on the EU's behalf by its sycophants at Westminster

Those constraints appear to be being brushed aside and a more assertive/professional team are now deciding the path (I do not mean Johnson) - you should be happy for the health of the UK

Ha - so you don't have any direct experience/understanding then of major negotiations and can only parrot the tired soundbites of 2016-2019 - Its Okay, you will have a lot of company.

Before commencing negotiations it is important to establish your range of target outcomes - from fallback to ideal and seek to put in place the 'conditions and climate' that you want the negotiations to be conducted within. This move - maybe I am reading too much into it - smacks of being only one example of what I hope is an orchestrated negotiation strategy.

In short it is a sign that the UK could be about to be led by professionals rather than incompetents.

I said on Friday - after the result- that.....

"If I was Johnson I would consider reopening the WA and removing further aspects that I am uncomfortable with. But I understand that he will not do that - there is just too much capital banked on achieving the WA by the end of January.

The FTA is a whole different kettle of fish though."

It seems that he is indeed influenced by bold and experienced negotiators and they are cutting though the torpor that as characterised the UK's negotiating approach so far. Really exciting stuff, but you need to understand these things to really appreciate it.
