Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

I think a drop off was inevitable. It's only natural that the motivation and intensity wouldn't be the same after the last two incredible seasons.

Add in the new signings adapting to the system and a few players slightly past their best all compounded by key injuries.

Use the rest season to integrate Cancelo and Rodri into the team. Maybe give Bernardo a run in midfield to see if that's his best position.

Get rid of the players who aren't good enough in the summer (Stones, Otamendi etc.) and give Pep the funds he needs to freshen up the squad.

Agreed, but lets not waste money this time. Let's do some proper research and make sure they're good enough.

It was the run in where he didn't play much. In the last 15 games in the league I think he started 5.
That’s true mate but we were winning, so why change the winning side on a roll too much?

Right now we aren’t winning and the quality of Sané is missed. Especially with none of the forwards playing well.

I think you are forgetting what Sane was like in 2019.

He was mostly sulking, Pep was going ballistic at him on the sideline, he was always the first player off if he started and sometimes only 10 minutes after half time.

Sane in his best form consistently would be a massive loss to any side, but I suspect if he was really fit now he'd just be another player not performing.

In all likelihood he wouldn't even be here anyway without the injury.

Pep's model is buying a new player costing over £50m for every position that is under-performing,

He can't do that for ever, and complained at the start of the season the cub could not afford Maguire, obvious Mourinho like did going on about the quality of eggs. After that complaint he had lost it.

Give any manger £50m+ to spend on players to improve a good quad and most will do well, but how many of the Walker and Mendy types have gone backwards under him? Stones still can't defend, Rodri is like playing Vonk in midfield, not suited to the team. Mahrez has shown a few sparks but not much. Too many nad signings and one whi have declined under the manager after starting well.

An extension needs to be earned, it would be daft giving him now and then paying it all off in the summer. 2 good seasons 2 underachieving ones, and in the first he rested players against united and huddersfield which gave united a trophy.

I'm from Barcelona and i want Pep back here, but first i want him to stay in Manchester because he stil has an incredible and beautiful challenge there against Klopp.
I can't imaging Pep refusing this challenge, and i'm sure Soriano and Txiki will give him whatever he needs to keep mastering his Positional Play, which i love, in the Premier League.

Hasn't he said that he won't be the manager at barca in the future? If he's going back he it will in the position of youth academy

i've heard that too, but i just don't want to believe it haha.
I've always wanted to believe he said that because he doesn't want the press speculates about it, and he doesn't want to feel any pressure.
I'll keep praying ;)

Pep can’t leave this season as he will look a coward imo. He needs to sort the back room staff out, sign a top CB and LB and get Leroy to sign a new contract and go again to defeat the klanfield crew!
For me... Pep does as he will. He can get any opening in world football due to his resume.

It seems that Pep has left top-top managerial positions in spite of ownership dearly wishing him to stay when mostly this occurs;
1) Management disagreements emerge on signings;
2) Management pressure occurs, however subtley, making the team's failures seem the fault of Pep;
3) Complacence/No foreseeable upward trend - according to Pep's biographers, Pep will leave a club if possible, regardless of past/recent success, if he feels that he cannot motivate his side to new and better successes.

I think that 1-3 above aren't at all issues currently at City - so I hope/expect that Pep will be amenable to extending his contract.

When Pep said things will be different next season I take him as his word because on history he keeps his word! So I expect him to sign an extension and spend 300m in the summer.

Of all the managers City have had in recent times... Pep is by far the most incisive - he knows exactly what's wrong with our side and knows exactly why we're not currently playing as he wishes.

Given our huge problems at CB/LB/RB and possibly some sort of very aggressive destroyer in mid - and given that D. Silva and Fernandinho likely won't be in our squad next season... and given that Aguero is at the stage where age will soon see his decline... we have a huge, huge rebuild ahead of us next season.

I foresee that Pep will be with us in 2010+... as the management/signing challenges ahead of him should appealing... ownership/top management totally support Pep... who knows for sure - but it seems to me that managing City next year is the best position in all of world football given Pep's priorities.

I really hope so, could do with some positive City news.

It's all shit this season; injuries, loss of form, defeats at home to crap teams, and away at the league's worst team, losing Arteta to a rival and not even bothering to try and sign one of Europe's most promising young strikers who now looks like going to the most hated club of all, despite Kun being injured and only having one other striker.

How about we see all positives for us from now on! Pep extends, Sané stays, Koulibaly signs in January and Sancho in summer. That would do me. I don't get why the club don't want exactly the same. We'd be unstoppable.

In the very unlikely event that Sane stays, we won’t sign Sancho IMO.

On the other hand third in the league still top scorers, semi final and topped group into last 16 of C/L, so not quite so terrible.

Oh dear.

I've said it before but sometimes I think that if he ever has doubts, the media trying to force him out will only iron his resolve to stay.

And the media deserve all the bad and ironic karma they get.

Never played it. Why is a new centre back and promising young winger so unrealistic? You think we'll sign a journeyman from somewhere like Watford or Brighton and a Spaniard hardly anyone's heard of while Utd spend £200m? It's not the fucking 90's.

My issue is the shit season part and how you think it so easy to just sign anyone.

You sound like you were not around in the 90s.

As for utd who gives a fuck what they do
