No that's not capitalism, it's called monopolistic trading. It's what happens when cartels establish themselves in markets. And the supermarket arena is now a virtual cartel with less than 6 major players.

In such situations, rules should be set so they are forced to share a good percentage of their profits with their suppliers.

These kind of rules are pointless because a supplier will already make profit or else they wouldn't be supplying the goods in the first place.

Suppliers may get shafted but supermarkets are all about quantity. If you were supplying potatoes for example then even 1% profit on the quantity they'd buy off you is massive.

Whilst the supermarkets are an effective cartel and local retailers are dying out, prices don't followed the monopoly rule of corner the market and raise the price because there is no corner.

Any supermarket that raises its prices nowadays is dead.

This is part of a very disturbing trend in which Remainers now find themselves on the same side as the far right. I'm not saying all Remainers are racist, but clearly it seems across the entire continent that many are. Dark times.
You could look at it that way but it would take some serious mental gymnastics to get to that conclusion.
The more logical conclusion is that the far right nutters now think they'd be on a hiding to nothing pushing the anti-EU nationalistic agenda after seeing what it's done to us.

If the far right extremists now want a EU that tells us all we need to know. Go ahead and side with the likes of the afd, le Penn, and the nutter in Hungary if you wish. Each to their own. I'm sure your a perfectly nice chap, but if you find yourself standing shoulder to shoulder with this lot I'm sure you can work it out for yourself.

You have to love a trier :)

Corbyn is tabling an amendment to the WAB committing the UK to extend the transition period if no trade agreement has been reached by June.

Edit: just seen that this has already been referenced :)

That obviously won’t pass but if the shit does hit the fan in 12 months, they can at least say they tried

Who say's they're supporters of the EU? There was nothing in that article that suggests that.
They're just not pushing getting out of it because they know they can't attract many people with that policy.
I think you're on the wind up.

The anti-EU parties haven't given up on exiting the EU, they still have ideas and policies to reform it that would mean major issues for the project, the article itself points that out at the end. Neither is it as a result of seeing difficulties of the UK leaving, it's more about how each of these organisations wish to obtain the necessary power within their respective countries and siding against the EU at the moment would be the wrong thing to do, from their perspective, it's not a vote-winner. These nations are much more entwined in the EU from geographical and financial viewpoints and as such it will be a harder sell. They will probably bide their time until a possible economic downturn before EU-membership policies become more worthy of discussion and with the EU having to take more control over fiscal policies within the eurozone countries it could happen sooner than later, but hopefully not at all.

The article states they have reversed or abandoned their leave policies. They are therefore pro remain/EU. Nothing wrong with that I suppose but when they were all keen to leave brexiteers here were accused of siding with the European far right, so it's a case of what's good for the goose is good for the gander I'm afraid. I understand how distasteful it must feel to have views in common with the far right.

Mental gymnastics indeed. The fact remains that across the continent the far right are Remainers - whatever their motivation.

Thanks for confirming my last sentence.

Very concerning indeed - I hope that Remainers have taken time for reflection

and our trains are all nationalised - just not our govt.........61% of rail journeys in the UK are on trains who's franchise is foreign owned - often by foreign govts. Doubtless the Italian, Irish or Dutch govts are eyeing Northern as I type - taking back control !!! That will learn 'em.

Ffs mate. Can we stop the snide remarks about foreigners please.

Not being snide - pointing out that a govt who is against state controlling trains happily sells them to whoever wants them and the current buyers are mostly foreign govts - I welcome it as they seem to know how to run a train - just also flagging up to all those Leavers on here what taking back control looks like - passports were made in Tyneside now made in France at a cost of jobs here, at least they are blue now though. Fishing fleet monitored not by a UK company but a French based one as the govt acted in a way that prevented the British one from entering the tender race and our trains mostly run by European Govts............I just wonder when they will realise they bought a fucking pup. Thats not having a pop at foreigners fella its pointing out the lie that is Brexit - take back control old boy - pip pip !!

So much (not just from you) on here about foreigners /immigrants, taking 'control' over the last couple of days from Remainers, and it's now come to light that remain is the choice of the far right extremists across Europe. The signs are clear, and all it takes is for good folk to turn a blind eye and it's 1930s Germany all over again.

Yep - it is said that people can be judged by the company they keep
