Crystal Palace (H) - Post Match

I thought City played quite well going forward. We struggled to turn possession into goals, and conceded soft goals. We were unlucky. They score from a corner and a fluke.

Only player I was disappointed with was Cancelo. He showed no desire to get forward. Your 1-0 down, as a full-back you overlap. I'll be amazed if Pep doesn't read him the riot-act.

For the most part it was just one of those days where you play reasonably well and just don't get the breaks.

Got to defend for 6 or 7 minutes at the death.. Goal!

27 goals conceded in 23 premier league games will not win you the league..

We have been brilliant for 2 seasons but a shake up is needed to freshen things up for next season..

We tried today, Kev ran he bollocks off, Bernardo did OK, Mendy did well, other than that, the effort was there but it was more going through the motions than busting a gut for the win..

Love my team and the club, you can't win all the time unfortunately..!

We looked alot more assured at the back when Rodri plays in as a back three out of possession, Today showed again why we need a back three an use Walker and Mendy as wing backs. Were not good enough to play with two centre backs until Laporte gets back in the side.
 
Playing away against us shouldn’t be the piece of piss tactically, it appears to be this season. Opposition managers should have to do more than say to their players “XI men behind the ball and then a long ball over the centre backs”. It shouldn’t be that easy against any side in the Prem, let alone a team that has secured 198 points in the previous two seasons.
 
Fuck knows why it was deemed necessary to change the team from last week. Ridiculous decison from Pep. The 11 that started hardly put themselves forward for a case of staying in the team either. Shite and another game to chalk up alongside Norwich, Newcastle and Wolves etc.

Their equaliser was a fluke.

We need to stop playing Fernandinho in Central defence. I know most will blame Stones but for me he did OK. He pushed zaha wide and Zaha smashed it across and it hit Fern and went in. Yet to see it on TV.

Stones looked like he got injured again.

We look vulnerable every time teams have a go at us, we just have no confidence at all. I’d keep Laporte and walker out of our current defensive players and any of the rest I won’t really be too sad if pep feels it’s time to move them on.

Gundogan is not at present a starting player. Fernandinho is not a central defender. If I was Phil Foden, I would now be requesting at least a loan, if not a transfer, as the current minutes on the pitch are simply inadequate.

Play Garcia in CD and Fern as the DM. Am I missing something, or is it too obvious to ask players to play in their recognised positions.

Funny enough I could see the problems we were going to have already in the first minutes seeing us being slow and lethargic. Had the same feeling against Norwich, Wolves and the rags. Yeah I mean I understand why people are pissed, but I have already written off winning the league, I never thought it we had even a 1% chance of winning it.

So I understand rotating Jesus and Mahrez and hence being forced to play Bernardo out there. It's also good (but really bad) to know Stones can't really be relied on consistently.

So now we know, against Real Madrid for example the starting line up MUST include Mahrez, Jesus, Laporte and Dinho, rest about in other games to get these 4 fit for important games. Hopefully the other players can get in form with the rotation. I would also probably go Bernardo over David in midfield, as he provides more protection with Gundogan.

On Gundogan, how did people not notice how great his passing was? Honestly shocked how people can blame him for anything, he isn't a defensive midfielder, he is a deep lying playmker.

Cancelo also had a terrible 2nd half but I can forgive that somewhat as he only started playing more, but something must have happened either instruction or onfield, because he was quite more erratic in that 2nd half.

We were playing well. We just didn't score and they scored from their first attack. Football can be like that
 
We have 1 defender who can defend 1 on 1 and he’s been out most of the season. Same as Newcastle, I had no confidence we could defend our lead for the last 5 minutes.
Piss poor game management. We know they have one man. Zaha. How on earth was he allowed to get one on one with stones in the area? Where were the full backs? We can’t defend 1 on 1 so why allow it to happen with 5 left. Fucking shocking.
 
To say that was a half arsed performance would be too generous so I’d say quarter arsed. Slow, methodical build up play with little or no end product. If the players can’t be bothered to look interested it’s no wonder the atmosphere was non-existent until we equalised.
