United Home League Cup Tickets

5,000 left online. None available online in South stand (but there are probably single seats in there).

(Real Madrid (H) is going to sell out this week).

Sterling work as ever, Marvin.

As of now.

United.

Noticed SSL3 has sold out over the last few days.

Still plenty of seats left in the NS and in Level 3 of the Main and East stand.

Madrid.

Still a fair few tickets left in each block in the NSL1

The rest of the blocks around the ground have single tickets scattered about.

It seems the NS still has an issue when it comes to selling tickets.

They should remove the 'Family Stand' label off the ticket site for games like this or reduce it as I think it puts people off sitting there despite there being very few families actually there.

I know some fans think City have loads of tourists but I disagree. How can you assess it? Well surveys say City have a very large season ticket base which is quite old. Not only is City's crowd 80% season ticket holders but our season ticket holders tend to be long standing.

City are however very popular now, and that 30,000 hard core of fans notice that there are newcomers particularly noticeable at Cup games where due to cost I think a lot of seasoncard holders have let their cup scheme lapse. I don't think this layer of new fans are tourists. They might have half and half scarves, they might be Asian or speaking foreign languages, or they might be students (an awful lot of whom are foreign) but that does not make them tourists. Our ground is nowhere big enough to have a neutral section. I don't believe there are neutrals at City games anyway accept in a very few CL games where some people come to see Ronaldo, Messi, etc.

Traditionally City had a tight hard core support that would go every home league game come what may, whatever division but we could never sell out midweek Cup games. We'd wait years dreaming of getting to an FA Cup Final, or a League Cup Final and a League Cup quarter final against a West Ham was a massive occasion but the ground would not be full. Now we can sell out a Port vale cup game, or CL group games in midweek. There's a periphery of new match-going fans who are around the club. These are not tourists. They are new fans. That's my opinion. I can't really prove it.

People are sensitive to difference and describe this group in some terms but it doesn't make them less enthusiastic in my opinion. From what I observe the quietest of supporters are the regulars who have got used to seeing City win and just sit back passively for what they see as routine games.
I agree we have lots of new fans, especially apparent at FA Cup games, but I also think the Champions League attracts all sorts of people. People who are in the North west on business, tourists, neutral fans from all over the UK etc etc. Personally I welcome all of them because we need to keep growing our fanbase. What I am saying is we should move forward with the North Stand expansion and encourage the neutrals. We can easily get at least 60,000 plus for these big matches. Real Madrid are a huge attraction even with their current team. I also agree that some of the new fans help generate atmosphere rather than reduce it. The more the merrier for me. I met a lad on the train last season who had travelled from Hong Kong for a match and he was a total fanatic.

@Marvin Do you think you could find me three together ? I don't like sitting in the corners or for that matter up at the back or close to the front.

Oh and behind the goals, never liked being there.

And I don't want to be near some of the old FOCS on here that moan, or anyone that leaves early. Ta.

Might have a spare for you. It's in the gantry you'll be sat beside Martin Tyler. Don't think Neville will be attending (or he might leave early?).

I wonder how many tickets we could have sold for Real Madrid had there been no capacity limit? Difficult to say but significantly in excess of our capacity.
without doubt i think we could have got rid of in excess of 70,000 with decent marketing,,,especialy if the first leg was a 0-0 0r 1-1,,bit of a gasp in breath with that staement when you think of the swales days

Gone up to 5043 online. More seats have been added in the last 24 hours. So counting the number of seats online is only a guide. I think sales should pick up now that the game is one week away.

It will sell out IMO. There were nearly 12000 left on the day of the first leg so nearly 7000 have shifted. I'm a little surprised that they haven't flown out the door a bit quicker following the result of that game, especially when there are less than 700 left for Real Madrid which is way more expensive and is nearly 2 months away. Could be that the restriction of needing a purchase history of at least 3 home games attended for the derby is a factor though. Fulham tickets are shifting quite well too, so much so that they may have to open CB3 after all.

I haven't looked at Fulham. I know that once I do, my interest will be piqued and I'll check again so I am deliberately not looking.

I found it a bit odd that for the Real Madrid game the tickets that have gone quickest are those in the main stands and the ones remaining are those behind the goals. Perhaps this game is less price sensitive than the usual games?

It’s because people don’t realise they can buy in the family stand without having a child with them for these games.

People running the ticketing site or at the club aren’t aware enough to realise it.

One factor in the comparatively slow rate of sales is that there are three matches with large numbers to shift on sale together: Fulham, United, and Real.

Surprisingly the Real tickets have been moving far quicker despite being far more expensive. Past experience would have suggested that the FA Cup match would have sold quicker despite being an odd kickoff time.

I suppose that selling tickets fur three matches in mid January when many have severe post-Christmas cash flow problems was always going to be a challenge.

Having said that, I suspect those attending the three matches may be very different from those at PL matches and likely or not different from each other.

City seem to have different people attending FA Cup matches, FL Cup matches and European matches.
