not as disappointed as you when you open your curtains and see it’s Not all fucked .
or when you find the article today in the news that says the IMF are now predicting that the U.K. post Brexit will grow faster than the eurozone
experts eh.....
Good news.
Should serve as an incentive for the Government to publish their own forecasts which they're currently refusing to do.

I don't think anyone will water down trading arrangements because who stands to benefit from that approach? If the EU is willing to force a watered down deal because of politics then how will that benefit EU citizens?

The UK represents 19 smaller EU countries leaving the EU so it is already an almost catastrophic loss for them in terms of its size. A punative trade deal would make it even worse.

If you wanted to sell cars, planes or anything else, would you choose Europe as your target market or the US or China? I know the EU is large but that isn't important because we don't sell to the EU, we sell to countries in the EU. The only way to grow is to target growth in those countries but European growth is flat, absent or shrinking in some places.

I read an amazing statistic the other day, Audi sells more cars to China then it does to the entirety of Europe and it has been growing at blistering pace. Growth in EU car sales meanwhile is actually falling! In some EU countries those sales are so small that they barely register on the map.

So if you were a car maker in this case, would you want a trade deal with the EU or would you want a trade deal with China? But, just imagine if there was an option for both.... Isn't that the entire goal of Brexit?

We just need to remember that we are leaving the EU, not Europe.

Just a reminder that the UK negotiated a trade deal with China outside of the Eu in 2014, The total deal was worth £14 billion ..... dont believe everything you are told about not being able to do stand alone deals because we are in the Eu.

Good point but not an FTA as such.
For instance we already have mutual recognition arrangements with the USA to facilitate trade.

So much wrong with this post. Why I am not surprised it has been lauded by the usual suspects.

As a member of the EU we trade with other members as if we are all part of the same country but as an EU member we also benefit from the deals that the EU negotiates with the rest of the world. The EU is a big player in economic terms and is able to negotiate better deals than the individual member states who on their own are obviously smaller. Indeed it is standard practice I believe that the EU inserts a clause into such deals that if any country gives someone a better deal then the EU deal must be changed to match.

Will the UK leaving the EU weaken the EU ? Yes, of course, it will, we are currently the 7th largest economy in the world. Why do you think Putin and Trump are so keen ? Brexit weakens a major player on the world stage.

But clearly Brexit weakens the UK more as we do not possess the economic clout that being part of the biggest, most successful trading bloc in the world brings.

Eurozone rivals*
Not the eurozone as one of our esteemed users commented.

Did honestly think the claim was the UK doing better than the whole Eurozone combined?

The good news is the IMF think we’ll be 3rd fastest in the G7, beating France and Germany.

The type of deal will affect the predictions for sure, but it’s a positive sign at least and predictions like this will prompt companies to invest.
