The only game with a disappointing attendance has been this game against Fulham. I agree it's the number of games. The match-price was reduced. You could always go further but we're at the point where it's not the ticket price but travel costs that's an issue. There's too much football. We're at saturation and I agree with Pep that the League Cup should be scrapped. I'll go to the games but when there's so much football fans will inevitably start to pick and choose especially when a lot of clubs play weakened teams.Because there are so many games we have to reduce ticket prices for the cup matches if we want to sell out. We should be building our brand by having full grounds with a better atmosphere.
The Cup games like today and the CL games allow none-seasoncard holders to go to a game. A bit insulting to call them tourists.
Not everyone can have a seasoncard because they are capped and not everyone can afford to go to every game with matchday prices.
We seem to have a chicken and egg situation here. When I started going in the 70s, my Dad took me to league games on a Saturday at 3pm. That's very difficult nowadays. We need a bigger stadium but then the explanation I've heard for the delay in the North stand extension is that "we need to being selling out every game". The experience of going to a league game is better than Cup games against lower league opposition.I'm seeing this seasoncard/tourist dichotomy more than I used to. I've had a seasoncard in the past, and would like one now but wasn't successful. Since I was about 4 years old I've gone to 5 - 15 games a season. So no York away, but I did my time in the second division. To be honest, it's *that* crowd that city needs to attract! People who are moving to Ancoats etc.
Not sure City have a say in the matter of your train fare or whether BBC choose to show the game.He wanted the competition scrapped last week, perhaps he should make his mind up ?
He could afford to buy us all a ticket today from his pocket change, so its a bit rich being lectured by a multi millionaire. £72 return on the train today for me, for a game that could have been a Saturday 3:00pm ko, but for City chasing the ££££ from TV, all on trains that were fucked about all over the place too.
For those that are traveling up the m6 on Wednesday it’s going to be shut every night this week between junctions 14-15 if I remember rightly . It was on the gantrys on Saturday when we drove up. Won’t be a problem going but will be the usual shit going home , being diverted off the motorway.
Ena is never off there

I am with you on the internationals. However I think there is too much football. Klopp has taken matters into his own hands and decided to play fringe and young players in the domestic Cups.Well I disagree, four Wembley cup-finals and wins (hopefully soon to be five) in a few short years and people aren't bothered about the league cup anymore? Ten years ago we couldn't dream of such success.
Instead of dropping cup games drop the stupid international breaks between August and November, the season doesn't even seem to get going any more until late November, the first months are just constant stop/start.
Tourists? We haven't had a single glamour game at City since Spurs last season.Yep. I think ultimately city's main problem right now is that they have the 32000 die hards, and they're doing ok with tourists, but they need to grow what is probably double or triple the 20,000 or so fans who will go to 5 games a season. Manchester is one of the fastest growing cities in Europe, so there's loads of scope for it, but it's not quite working right now, which puts more pressure on the die hards. Going to the football is a habit, and as you point out it's not the easiest habit to get into right now.
Put in personal terms, if they open up another 10000 seasoncards at <£500, I'd snap one up, but who is going to replace me coming to a mix of league and most cup games?
Thanks for the update , it was just something that caught my attention on Saturday , only got to see it once and wasn’t sure what the full message was other than night closures.According to the Traffic England website... http://www.trafficengland.com/traffic-report it's only northbound that is completely closed overnight (J13-J16) which should finish at 6am and start again 9/10pm. Neither of which should really affect City fans, unless they're REALLY early starters! Some lane closures southbound after the match, so maybe lots of traffic, but not closed completely.
Thanks for the info though, made me remember to check the rest of my route!
Level 1 and 2 blocks were greyed out for the Fulham game, but there were loads of empty seats in each block.
Hopefully that isn’t the case on Wednesday night?
Once again the North Stand is the issue, bar tickets still remaining in L3 of the CB and the ES.
I think at £10 a ticket, some people just don’t show and don’t bother passing tickets on.
Why is the north stand the issue? I can’t see more than a few hundred left unless I’m missing something, which is possible!Level 1 and 2 blocks were greyed out for the Fulham game, but there were loads of empty seats in each block.

I think JRB is referring to the the number of empty spaces in the Family Stand against Fulham. City had greyed it out on the online plan in the last few days of sale so that only EL3 was available and some seats on the first tier of the main stands and yet come match day there were quite a few empty seats in the family stand. Why is the north stand the issue?
