I am sorry but many prominent posters on her argue that it is all about trade and that in order to create a trading bloc you need a parliament a political system, laws and regulations
You definatley need laws and regulation in a fully free trade block, and if you have laws and regulations then you need some sort of voting system, so one elected by it's citizens is better than one not.

To create a bloc you need rules. You need a structure and you need administration to run it. You need a means of adjudicating that the rules are being followed and you need a mechanism to punish infractions.

You don’t get a trading bloc or even more complex levels of integration like a Single Market or a Single currency by everyone holding hands and singing kumbaya.

have a look at bobs posts today. It’s all about trade in order to be a successful trading bloc apparently you need a big political system to go with it.

I think posters on here would say the trading arrangement is the top priority, but nobody has their head up their arse enough to not know there are political implications to that. People like myself see them as a price worth paying, inconsequential, or actually beneficial. People like you don't. I get that, but the point I'm making is no one is saying the EU is a purely trading institution. I was initially responding to the genius who suspected there was something political about it. How on earth did he figure that out?!

There's a part of me been looking forward to today. Today is the start of bullshit meeting reality and it's going to be fucking messy.

the eu anthem isn’t kumbaya, but yeah I agree they do hold hands and sing a song.

Yeah me too. Although I think it won’t get messy for a few months. There will be a bit of a phoney war before shit starts hitting fan.
The messiness has already started behind closed doors, the public just aren't aware of it, but yes, it will take a few months for the bullshit to start oozing out into the public domain.

Confirmation that three countries, Germany, Austria and Slovenia, will not accept UK European Arrest Warrant and extradite their own citizens to the UK during the transition period for constitutional reasons.

I assumed this applied after transition when I referenced it earlier.

Yeah you have both been looking forwards to this day for the last few years lol.

"Ok so we lost the battle, what next"?

"lets pretend we are happy about it and that ultimately we will be proven right anyway"

"
You think"?

"Its all we have so lets at least bluff it"

"But we have been proven wrong so many times over the last few years, isnt it time to just let it go"?

"Cant. Internet is serious business and i just cant lose face"

Germany and Austria have never liked giving up their criminals to us Bob.

Have I fuck been looking forward to this day, and as for losing face, I couldn't give two twats about that, but I know what is being discussed (or more's to the point, what the government is refusing to discuss) with regards to 'getting brexit done' and it's really depressing. But, in order for us to start digging ourselves out the shit, the shit needs to present itself so everyone can see it in all its glory. At that point the question of 'what are we going to do about this massive shit' can start to be addressed.

Hmmm....talk about cutting off your nose etc, I presume they are happy to keep their terrorists and murderers running around freely.

No matter how tragic the outcome, the far right and their media backers will trumpet a glorious victory for thatcherism, vermin well and truly fucked, end of workers rights racism the de facto dogma .

To remind you of previous conversations.

I had no issue with May’s Withdrawal Agreement. If you recall I thought (erroneously) that it would pass with Labour support. I have no problem with Johnson’s version given its pretty much the same apart from selling off NI. The Withdrawal Agreement once it was agreed was always likely to prevail.

That it got spiked back in March was great. An unexpected lifeline and maybe even a chance to fuck Brexit off. So I had a lot of fun watching us thrash about and cheered on the shenanigans and was rooting for a similarly hung Parliament second time around. Unfortunately the country didn’t share my enjoyment of the farce so back to square 1 and the Withdrawal Agreement.

And here we are. 10 months late. So am I pleased to be leaving the EU? No. It’s a colossal fuck up. Am I looking forward to the shit show of negotiations and the dawning of reality part two? Yes. Just as I enjoyed us fucking up the WA and convincing ourselves that shelling out 39 billion sovs and putting up an internal customs border was ‘a great win for our team’, I’m going to enjoy the next phase of the negotiations and seeing similar levels of abject stupidity.

So yes there is part of me looking forward to it and there is part of me that regrets it. In other news people are complicated.

It has zero to do with noses. It has everything to do with their constitutional law which does not allow extradition of their citizens to non EU countries. We are a non EU country therefore no extradition.
