Arch puritan Brexiteer Steve Baker on BBC Politics Live generously says he takes no joy in the sadness of remainers - he's not encountered @Didsbury Dave though...;)
One comment on there resonated with me, it is the EU model of pooling sovereignty that is isolated now, at 2300 we join the rest of world who control their own laws, borders, budgets and policies.
Someone needs to introduce you to the concept of 'the united states of america'.

Anyone doing anything special for tonight? Out on the piss/dinner to celebrate/commiserate? A lot of fancy dress parties on the go and according to the express this may even eclipse VE day celebrations - the cartoon that keeps giving.

Borris is going to give a Churchilian speech of a new dawn tonight and the bells shall ring out across the land!

Personally I will raise a glass at 11.00 p.m tonight to the end of three years of total pantomime and I assume the end of the Brexit thread on BM as it has been finally done as BJ promised and we can all move on to more important things such as waiting for the first ever poster to guess Pep's starting team selection correctly.

and while my unexpected free pass into the empire of the Barclay Bros is still valid

While you mention it.

I have met the Barclay Brothers, or to be technically correct the two brothers are coffin dodgers that rarely leave their little tax exempt island, the business is run by their nephew. I had lunch with him and his team at their modest Hotel back when my former employer funded one of their businesses.

Awful people - everything about them and their operation would make the average brexit voter feel sick if they knew what these people were really like.

What a really well written article

Even the most diehard Remainer on here - so long as they are able to set aside any bitterness and need for denial - must be able to get their heads around that and acknowledge that we are indeed best Leaving.

I and others on here have said that whilst we wish to Leave - if we Remain then do so wholeheartedly. All the bollocks about half in / half out is indeed just bollocks. either Leave of Remain and integrate - any middle ground is just transition

I wish this article had been made available to the electorate in 2015/16 - so many Remainers would have had the mist removed from their eyes and have not fallen for all the guff that they allowed to shape their thinking
omg, i now see the light. I have been wrong all along.

From the Telegraph. On a par with the Mail. Lets dismiss Trade, Defence, Social aspects and concentrate on Sovereignty. Something that we always had and have demonstrably used over the last three years, lets have some more of that. A great example of the vacuous argument that any clear headed supporter of Brexit would see through in as much time as it takes to say ECJ.

I feel a surprising sense of calm, to be honest. I've mentally prepared for this and when I see the type of people gloating and crowing it just reinforces my view. They don't anger or annoy me anymore, I just think they're fucking stupid and I know that those same people will soon be angry and miserable again. All we need to do now if hold every single one of them to account. They fucking own this 100% now and have nowhere to hide.

Andrew Neil seems to have been enlisted to run the Telegraph now.

If we'd have had a second referendum these twats would have spent the rest of their lives being smug that they were right all along that their 'democratic voice had been ignored' had it gone remain. Going to be interesting watching the penny drop over the course of the next year and a half or so with some of the mouthpieces on here.

There are a number of trade blocs round the world. Mercosur, ASEAN etc. 54 countries in Africa with the help of China (who else) have put together the AfCFTA

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/07/11/africa-free-trade-what-is-the-afcfta.html

All trade blocs pool sovereignty to a greater or lesser degree. Also what is the problem of pooling sovereignty and cooperation or even bringing down borders as they have done in Europe. What are you guys so frightened of?

The economy is expected to be stable over the course of the next year. I don’t know what you’re expecting to happen.

Of course those gloating are stupid but so are those who are insinuating the country is knackered.

If the sample on here is anything to go by there won't be too many pennies dropping.

But hopefully the larger population is not so blinkered.
