Tell you what. I'll wait for Johnson's speech then we can put it under the cake-and-eat-it-ometer.

Wow some right lily-livered people on this forum. The UK has to now play hardball with the EU, it is entirely correct that we will not be accepting alignment with their rules. What's the point of Brexit if that is the case. Why do you think they want us to, its simply because they acfually fear a fully independent strong nation that is free of their imposed restrictions. We are not a tiny debt ridden EU country, we have plenty of cards to play in negotiations and Johnson knows this, so fair plays to him. I had my doubts he would do this but he has pleasantly surprised me. The rest of you better go and hide behind your sofa for the next year or so like you do when Dr Who is on the tv.
We are debt ridden.
Hiding behind the sofa?
Not really, 'avin a larf actually.
U carry on Johnny.
English.

Correction Len, the majority of the UK will carry on like it has the last three and half years while you continue to post your doom laden nonsense. Alternatively you could grow a pair, accept the result and move forward! Ah thought not. Best get behind that sofa then.

You are aware that since the Conservatives came to power the National Debt has more than doubled (and thats after they stole 7 years of pensions off women to pay it down) sooooo we are a tiny debt ridden country. In fact if personal debt was included we would probably be close to Spain

It's difficult to play any sort of 'ball' when the other side doesn't want to play because you won't stick to the rules of the game.

Imposed restrictions ? Tell me one thing you can do today that you couldn't last friday.

Your fully independent strong nation is about to shatter and divide itself even more with calls for another independence referendum in Scotland and Sinn Feins call for the reunification of Ireland (calls which will get louder as the people of Northern Ireland realise what a pigs ear the current deal is)

Please elucidate ..... what cards do we have to play in negotiations ? Fish that we don't eat perhaps but that will simply reveal another lie told by Johnson and leave wont it ?

I expected them to come out with the UK still in a free trade zone from Iceland to the Russian border.

You have said.......thousands of times.

At some point along this journey it will dawn on you that you simply are not going to get your way, ever.

Its called living in a democracy and more people disagreeing with you that agreeing.

Oh I know Vic..........the kids..........loads didn't vote..........facebook...........CA..........the Russians..........the weather...............

Nah, unlike you mate I'm not into jingoistic nonsense.
I'll watch this one out from the sofa and expect us to end up better off ( or at least no worse off) as was promised.

Don't bother him with facts.

It would be interesting to see whether the cavalier Brexiters are usually optimists or it's just part of the act.

Len, not even the Leavers now think we'll be better off. We will be worse off but we will be free.

Speak for yourself.

Years of thinking you know what the electorate wants and thinks has left you where exactly?

Decimated in Parliament and out of the EU is the answer.

Its all so laughably condescending and wrong.

Living in a democracy means that you can be lied to. I get it. It doesn't change the hypocrisy.

Wow, that's escalated after I went to bed.

Johnson is clearly setting down a few markers prior to negotiations beginning...exactly as the EU have publicly doing for the last three and a bit years. Both sides will have maximum (unrealistic) demands, a position they expect to achieve and a point where will walk away.
