I had a knightmare Chesney caught Corona-Virus and Ric perma banned me. I hope he stays safe and I have popped a few face masks in the envelope with some Asda Hand Gel. I can't do anymore?

I had swine flu, was fucking horrendous. I didn’t die even though 575,400 did die worldwide (214 in the UK)

It’s always important to remind ourselves that regardless of the number infected or killed, these are real people with real families and communities and their strife and/or loss have a real impact on the world.

And regardless of your thoughts about whether we should have more or fewer people in the world for ecological reasons, surely we can agree that suffering of this kind should not be legitimately trivialised or hailed as the way to bring better balance (even if there is evidence that past “plagues” did help humanity to progress). They are horrific events that mostly impact the poorest in the world, which we should be working to protect.

It’s one thing to make a joke — and I do that as much as anyone — but I don’t ever want to genuinely diminish the suffering or ignore our collective responsibility to help the afflicted.

I don’t think @Indaparkside was doing that, by the way, just thought the important implications of @Psychedelic Casual’s post were worth highlighting.

I don’t wish to trivialise it at all nor do I wish to disrespect those who died from it, my brother did have it though and he was 14.

This was when Call of Duty Modern Warfare had just come out and we’d got it online and he was quarantined in his room for a week or two. My mum feeding him whatever he wanted under the door whilst he played Xbox the whole time.

His words upon leaving the room were that he wanted to catch it again.
