That’s the thing. Makes me wonder whether our evidence is only conclusive if it’s interpreted in the way we want. Maybe it’s not as cast-iron as it sounds. UEFA are happy to go to CAS. They don’t make this judgement if they are not happy to go to them. So that has to make us nervous. I feel they know something City don’t.The club statement is robust in that it addresses the judgement on two levels:
1. The process - "The UEFA Chief Investigator publicly previewed the outcome and sanction he intended to be delivered to Manchester City, before any investigation had even begun"
2. The evidence - "The Club has always anticipated the ultimate need to seek out an independent body and process to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence in support of its position."
It's difficult to understand how the "comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence" can be squared with UEFA's judgement. That will be for CAS to consider.
