I believe that UEFA have recognised two options here.
1- hand down a totally disproportionate punishment, knowing (given their past record) that CAS will reduce it by, say 50%, thus we get punished, cartel clubs satisfied, and media insinuation of guilt continues- only more so. Result for them!
2- hand down a totally disproportionate punishment, knowing CAS will dismiss it on the breach of procedure claims, we don’t get punished , cartel clubs not satisfied as much as option 1, but dismissal on technical grounds means media insinuation of guilt continues, only more so, which I believe is the ultimate aim in either event. Result for them!
They know that enough shit will stick if you throw enough, and in this trumpian, post-truth world, the message is the important thing whether it is true or a downright lie. It really doesn’t matter to them either way, the damage is done.

Now boys and girls. Let's play a game. I'm going to show you an email I've received and you have to guess who it's from.

Couldn't even begin to guess but whoever it is has been riled-irked even stunned by the truth as it is. A lot of people in the media are saying that City have been targetted by journalists, from what I have read on here all you have done is put some meat on the bones explaining that theory.

Just some of the terms used for City fans lately - Matthew Syed: "vicious rats" Miguel Delaney: "blinkered crackpots" Nick Harris: "Paid trolls/shills" Ewan MacKenna: "Cheerleaders of mass murderers"

Yet, we never stop them. Wtf is up with us?
The club is in a very difficult position of needing to avoid further comment as they work to challenge the UEFA decision via the proper channels but also not give the impression that we are squashing independent scrutiny, especially from the media, as that will just play in to the narrative of City trying to cover up our supposed transgressions.

If we start banning reporters from the pressers, even ones as consistently antagonist and devious as Stone, it will lead to more pronounced (and, in many eyes at that point, substantiated) coverage proclaiming that we are bullying outlets away from providing “balanced, informative” reporting, requiring even more PR crisis management. We know that angle is complete nonsense but we have to try to avoid feeding it, all the same.

It is a very tricky position with few “right” ways and really only “best possible” ways to go about things.

Personally, I think the club are doing about as well as can be expected given the situation, especially given we don’t know what they are doing in the non-public realm. For all we know they are being Pep G in public and Andy M in private.

Fuck that. What would be more funnier than if utd get fifth, their fans go into gobshite overdrive, start taking the piss with us, we get cleared and they have the most monumental meltdown.
Now that would keep me laughing all summer.
This please!

Sensible post, it's a wait and see scenario.
