I’ve got similar symptoms but my breathing is fine, so have I got it or not, chances are it’s just a common cold or is it.

It's mostly taking the elderly, if it actually kills that is, even then elderly always have risk of dying of heart attacks, heart disease, flu, old age etc.

Mortality rate of the common flu or lower, most victims are elders, can't easily control where and how it spreads (as for most viruses), temporarily harms productivity of the countries that "use" it.

Do I need to be shitting myself or is this one of those moments where in 5 years, we can laugh and taunt those who had a few weeks off work with a cough?

That's a very casual attitude towards a crisis that may grip the whole world and disease which continues to spread at an alarming rate.

Regardless of the age of the patients, they are valuable for their families and its a loss of human life at the end of the day.

Nothing to worry about. For you and I it’ll be like getting a strong cold or the flu.

It’s older people with breathing issues that will be at risk so don’t visit grandparents if you get it.

I actually think the media hysteria is making more issues than the actual virus.

Things like this are good for the human race in an evolutionary sense. Because of the explosion of the population and the rise in antibiotics, lots of humans who should be dying aren’t dying. So we need something like this to wipe out some of the world’s population every now and again.

Chris Packham did a programme on this last month “7.7 Billion People And Counting”. He said himself that his Dad got an infection and got antibiotics and recovered. While he was glad his Dad recovered, from an evolutionary sense, he admitted his Dad should suffer with that infection and either fight it off or die from it. He didn’t want his Dad to die but that’s what should happen if his own body can’t fight it off.

Humans are just another organism like any other organism on the planet. There’s nothing special about us. Love for family members is a feeling that only exists in evolutionary terms for a strength in numbers/protection sense to help the species in living and evolving.
