Even if ADUG were funding part of the Etihad deal, our defence could be that UEFA (or their consultants PWC) insisted that Etihad is a related party. Owners are allowed to inject funds via related parties under FFP, as long as that is seen to be fair value. UEFA accepted our deal was fair value and anyway, it accepted far more in PSG's case, in a league nowhere near as watched as the PL and for less obvious benefit. So WTF is the problem?

And CAS might think, "Yeah. Why are UEFA attacking their own position on this? Something funny here".
Might have to dig out that CAS 1 summary again and find out what the value of City's damages claim was.

I'd be seeking damages of the order of £100s m.

Yes, I agree with that.

I’m not entirely sure the Etihad deal is the one Uefa have an issue with tbh, I thought the alleged inflated values were the smaller ones like Aabar

True, but did the ITK’s know about UEFA changing the toolkit late in the day? I think that info only came out afterwards

If you’re an ITK on this you will not be saying anything - simple, this is a closed shop tight knit circle with the information who will not leak it (ok from the clubs side anyway)

Hearts and minds can come later. We aren't winning that war anytime soon.

This is about keeping City in the competitive elite right now.

Indeed. And most rationale neutral (ie non-red) supporters I meet acknowledge - after having had a laugh at our expense - that the whole edifice is an unfair sham, along the lines Samuel talks about. In other words, we actually still have quite a lot of sympathetic hearts and minds, despite all the propaganda out there.

Only a complete exoneration, UEFA admitting that their IC and AC have acted beyond their remit and reached an incorrect judgement and that there were no grounds whatsoever to charge us in the first place, the closure of all action relating to all previous accounting periods, the dissolution of the IC and AC, dismissal of key members of UEFA hierarchy, complete rewrite of FFP to serve a functional purpose, the forced alignment of Stockley Park with European VAR standards and this season's CL trophy by beating Liverpool in the final will do :).

Get the distinct impression that this thread has gone from ‘City are innocent and will blow UEFA away etc’ to ‘We are not so sure now and might accept a compromise’?
I don't think we will accept a compromise per se, but the lawyers must be talking behind the scenes to each other, a certain amount of horse trading has to be taking place . Last night we saw a game that was reffed fairly and straight , how many European games can we say we have been involved in that has ? So why did that happen ? Eufa could have easily stitched us up with some decisions last night but didn't, ok they still could do in the return leg but I don't think they will , it seems that maybe they don't see us in the same light as they did before ? If we are holding some damning information and we have shown them what we will do with it then maybe a compromise is required on their part to keep the status quo and there powerbase intact BUT with a better relationship with us.

Just a few minor findings then. Like your optimism.

Ultimately, I believe it will be mutually convenient for Uefa and City that the IC and AC are ruled not fit for purpose by CAS.

This is why I think Lord Pannick is on board. To tear down the regualatory process, not Uefa.

Something else will follow (a more enlightened one, perhaps?)
We still need somebody to play against in the future so in reality we need our enemies. We don't really want to destroy UEFA, perhaps not even FFP. I think we actually just want to be part of the cartel.

You really don’t understand us at all

"Holding some damning information" might be the key, thus:
AC talk to Ceferin telling him they are going to ban us for 2 years and levy a fine.
Ceferin thinks: they are bound to appeal that. They have loadsa money and maybe AD Intelligence services with them. Stuff will come out that we seriously can't live with. I'll offer them a deal.
City turn the deal down. Ban issued, appeal started.
Plenty of UEFA shit available : "We will put everything on the table" say City.
What is it we know?
Edit PS . Why would Ceferin offer such a soft deal?
