No, but I was advising everyone in the discussion that it’s time to move on to avoid it going down that path, hence you are quoted.

In fairness mate and I will tread carefully as you are a mod but it's a forum for debate and not censure based on an inkling of how things may develop.

Now someone calling a poster Adolph is inflammatory but I'm a big boy and don't care so if you want to warn that one poster it is not my business. My point was that the panic or laughable self interest shown by people is somewhat bizarre. This is a reasonable opinion to have and as such it doesn't break the coc I don't see the need for someone to try and censor it.

Not sure how advising that it is probably time to move on from a discussion only involving wind ups and name calling, with little in the way of actual contribution to the topic of the thread, could be interpreted as censorship.

Very strange interpretation.

Can't remember name calling or winding up anyone in fairness mate. Anyhow less than 3000 deaths in a month stock markets down shit loads even oil prices down and people cancelling holidays because 10 people in 60 million have died. It's a strange world we live in

The US (and world) is in very good hands...

That’s a very inaccurate review of the current official and modelled *probable* statistics and threat, though, mate. Given a few of us have covered the actual information available about the outbreak from the WHO and CDC in the last 10 or so pages, I am not sure it’s worth regurgitating all of it now.

I can understand thinking people are overreacting, that’s a fair view, but I do think it’s important not to underrepresented the issue.

The truth is as mentioned 150000 people a day die so this is minute at this time but people are strange

More people will die of cancer but if you don't have cancer you don't fret

More will die of suicide but if your not depressed you don't care

More will starve but if your not hungry you don't care

A dozen people in a country die from a virus and the stock market goes to shit

And you know none of us worry or act upon those things, in addition to carrying that nearly 3,000 have been confirmed to have died (and very probably far more than that) in the very early stages of a global pandemic that if it takes hold in regions without developed healthcare systems (as it is now in Iran) could see the mortality rate skyrocket?

Caring for things is not a binary action — you can think about and be invested in multiple things at once.

We're going round in circles 3000 in 8 billion. I'll hold back on panic at this point.

Dr. Dre has the prescription, and no, it's not more cowbell.

Doesnt ‘regular’ flu kill 650,000 people a year? But everyones wetting their knickers over this ?
Call Ladbrokes, maybe they will make you a market for an under bet on the suspected total number of unfortunates.

Yeah but flu kills around 0.3% of those affected And we actually have a vaccine for that which keeps the numbers relatively low (note that’s flu and not the common cold).

Covid19 kills somewhere between 2-4% with a similar R0 (rate at which it spreads) and there’s no vaccine.

The last time there was a proper global pandemic like Covid19 was 1918’s “Spanish” flu (although it was slightly less lethal) and it killed between 50-100m in a two year period.

About 150,000 people die every day So a few people meeting their maker per continent per day is hardly relevant. More kids starved to death today and it passes without comment. On that basis anyone who gets it probably can’t whinge too much.
See above.

0.3%?

News here continually repeating 0.1% mortality rate for annual flu, which I have read in numerous locations.

Either way, COVID-19 is 10-20 TIMES as deadly as the flu. In any crowd of 100 people with the virus, 2 to 4 will be dead within a month...not pretty!
