Will be amazed if the football season and other major sporting events are not cancelled within the next week .
I just don’t see the government being that decisive. I think it will be a few weeks, when cases are in the hundreds, before they start imposing those sorts of restrictions. Closing schools will be the big step. Especially as that would effect nurses, doctors and other workers who are essential in controlling the spread of the virus

Yeah it’s the very young and very old I have concerns for.

We need to think about what to do with my old nan if it gets bad, especially if we get it as a family.

She’ll struggle for food.

Will probably stockpile for her in the coming weeks if it spreads here.

early data was suggesting the young ( less than 1 year ) don’t get it very much and when they do it’s very mild.

Yeah my Grandad is 82 and my Mother has Lupus. Both will be prime for this when it breaks out.

Ive just made two big lots of soup, one big stew and I’ll do a big chilli early next week and buy a number of tins of food. A few dozen meals there.

If they can’t go out at least I have something for them.

Hope you’re right, normally these type of events don’t particularly concern me but I have the feeling this is going to be different.

Schools can decide to shut themselves if they want to.

Two in Cheshire did so early this week.

Yeah good idea. As soon as it gets like Korea here we’ll just flood her house with tinned food and other things she can stockpile.

was starting to think the same after reading that the UAE tour has been cancelled. Could the football season be finished with teams playing behind closed doors or just cancelled. It could be a massive problem, I am of to Wembley and have to admit abit nervous about being in a large crowd and being on the trains and subways

ps my boss is already talking of not paying sick pay if you catch it !! or self quarantine yourself, because I am due back to work on the 4th after a month off with depression, now he is saying he wont pay sick pay if I catch it ...makes me feel better :(

The Swiss government have just banned all gatherings of over 1000. Don't know about the footbell (FCZ are at Young Boys this weekend) but the hockey games are going ahead but with no fans.
Knowing the English fa they will announce that the league cup will be played behind closed doors at 2pm Sunday ! same ko at 4:30 !!

I meant closing them all down as has happened in Japan. The Chief Medical Officer has suggested we might have to.

That would certainly be the acid test as to how well prepared we are, how thorough are the government’s contingency plans. Have they addressed the question “how can we shut down all of the schools and still ensure that essential workers can keep working?”

First case just reported in Wales

Its an over reaction but in Politics its the under reactions that get you and so once these things start its like a snow ball. There is a massive conflict of interest here with the financial implications of such moves and if such moves become blanket policy - even for a month or so - then the impact is devastating.

If the football season is to end behind closed doors what will it do to the finances of small clubs?
