Me and @aguero93:20 are good virtual chums and only having a light hearted cackle about our two neighbouring islands, so don’t worry.

Anyway back on topic, I think I’ve thought selfishly and naively about this. The economy is something that definitely will effect me and badly and whilst I’m not in the age range that this thing tends to kill a lot, so I should be fine, a lot of people will likely lose loved ones.

The Chinese, specifically those eating the shite they do, in these rural markets, have a lot of answering to do.
Wasn’t a commentary on the banter, mate, just a reminder that we need to keep political discussion out of the thread.

Thick ignorant bastard mate. Probably the same scruffy cunts that never wash their hands after going to the toilet, I’ve noticed a shit load of people doing it this week.
my mrs just came in from work complaining, she works at a very well know supermarket chain which i wont name, staff issued with fingerless gloves not taking them off when they go to the toilet,, filthy bastards

Wonder if we will close schools like Italy have. Going to cause chaos that.

Once we start doing that we are fucked...

Parents will then be off, wages down & food Bill's will be monitored more than it is now

Food outlets will struggle the smaller ones like cafes will close

No work no mortgage, no work no milestones or turnover

No turnover no profit to go again

Holidays will suffer & countries will suffer millions of pounds losses

All this for a fucking virus nowhere near as bad as the flu

650.000 a year world wide loose there life to the flu, people cough & splutter in work or in public yet the whole world is about to go into lockdown to somthing that may take 60.000 lifes at best world wide

What the fuck is going on!!!

I went to Cape Verde in October and caught the infamous shitty arse virus that swept the islands last year (yes that was the official term).

The amount of dirty bastards using the toilets and walking out without washing, presumably thinking the pool would do it, was astounding.

I spent 4 days on the toilet coming out of both ends.

So it’s all a ‘massive’ overreaction from basically every organisation and governmental entity that has direct access to the best, most up-to-date information available?

They need to have a very clear plan as to how essential workers can get to work if their kids can’t go to school. Apparently the school closures in Japan have led to high absenteeism by nurses.
What I don't get is what the point is of having kids stay at home if one or more adult household members are still going to work? My Mrs works in the NHS, and I doubt the rest of us going into lock down will help if she's spending the day with dozens of ill people and coming home to us riddled each night.

*waits for @aguero93:20 to suggest bricking the wife and setting fire to her*

Bit harsh that, just kick her out and tell her to go live with [insert least favourite member of family here].

those people prob went in their for a dump, the others just piss in the pool, got talking to a pool guy in florida most of the chemicals poured in are to combat piss

they should be closed now, although the kids have a decent mortality rate going for them they will just pass on the virus to those in the home then the whole family are in lockdown, obviously Borris and Co are protecting productivity keeping parents working

I think the conventional wisdom is that viruses spread faster in schools than anywhere else. It’s possible that school kids themselves will not be seriously affected by coronavirus but they’ll spread it liberally among themselves and then take it home to their parents. According to one epidemiologist “once it gets into the schools we’ve lost control”. So there are good reasons for wanting to close the schools, but they should have a contingency plan that allows doctors, nurses etc to keep working. If they haven’t, then they haven’t really be planning for a pandemic.

This is the problem. The 'debate' such as it is seems to be polarising around the two opposite positions of it being not even as bad as flu on one hand, and zombie apocalypse on the other. I personally think the truth lurks somewhere between the two, but more moderate voices tend to be drowned out by the apocalyptic headlines. In this age of collapsing printed media sales and a crowded online news scene everything needs to be sensational just to be noticed - it only seems like a few days since coastal communities were about to be swept into the sea and 1000's of homes lost to flooding. Now there is another headline generator this is forgotten. Every time it's windy and pisses it down we have to give a bit of fairly standard seasonal weather a stupid name and proclaim the collapse of civilisation.

My missus teaches 5/6 year olds. They don’t even wipe their arses properly never mind wash the germs off and catch sneezes in a tissue!
