I think even that timeline wouldn’t have been overreacting (in retrospect, anyway).

That wasn't really what I meant.

The fact the Liverpool-Atleti match (as much as we all enjoyed it immensely) was allowed to go on was irresponsible.

Allowing the game was fine, but allowing 3000 from Madrid to visit was irresponsible imho, even if only a handful (unlikely) have it, many are mixing in liverpool for 24-48 hours, that won't go well.

You'd expect that though, its the most populated area of the UK, Hertfordshire is next and more of a worry as much of it is rural, though it includes Watford, it worries me particularly because I work there.

This had not crossed my Mind.

Millions of people will have difficulty going to work.Many of them like his wife who is a Sister at a Hospital are front line in the public sector.

Although I think it will be a week Friday as Government trying to hold out for as long as possible to minimise impact on economy etc.

Allowing the game always meant the Madridistas were going to visit (even if the match had been played without a crowd) — the only real way to stop most of them from travelling and lingering in Liverpool and elsewhere would have been to postpone the match, barring a ban of all travellers originating from Madrid.

yep and I work in Holborn with an hour commute on trains - and we’ve been informed at work that our computer servers will only work from home for 50 people , there’s 300 of us in the office. So it’s carry on as if nothing’s happening.

Strangely enough all open for business. Nobody is quite sure if the authorities have done this or if they have done it off their own backs. It’s a strange one as the 6 or seven I’ve seen today all have notices saying closed for holidays until 10th April.

not sure about those temperature ranges from what I’ve read - bit more data on the virus released a short while ago from U.S studies - 24 hours on cardboard! That makes supermarkets packaging dodgy with the amount of people that pick em up and put them back.

So, the symptoms so far are, fever, dry cough and runny nose. Is that really all we're going on, because thousands will have those symptoms in March. Just what do you do?

Guessed so, reading that had me worried.

It would make it infinitely worse if it was the case.

We need a vaccine ASAP.

I have heard of a virologist having a meeting with an investment company. He told them that they were nearly there with a vaccine, and then it progresses to animal testing, which could be nine months. Then or during that there would be some human testing and if everyone's happy and says yep let's roll this out, the investors step in and make some money. Will be next year I think. But they won't be the only country trying this, I remember Australia taking the virus to their labs in early Jan.

A year plus is not really asap from the point of view of the virus spreading sadly. It certainly is from the an organic chemistry and regulatory pov though. However a year is very optimistic in it's self from my experience in synthisis of organic compounds. The red tape is annoying as it can be prudent/necassary.

Donald Trump has suspended all flights from mainland Europe to the US for 30 days following the spread of coronavirus cases across the continent.

The US president said the sanctions will come into effect from midnight - but will not apply to flights from the UK.
