Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Not buying the RM quarantine, they are waiting on Hazard, Bale etc to be fit and want to delay it as long as they can or have it called off, I’m very sceptical.
As long as they stop all football and cancel all comps, then so be it.
La Liga has just been suspended indefinitely.

I doubt very much Real Madrid are trying this on

what makes you think it will be over in weeks?
Even if it has peaked that’s still a lot of people to catch it and burden the health service.

Hard to predict what the timescale would be as there are many variables. In view to saving the season would you not want to resume fixtures when it is safe to do so then complete the season and then start on the next fixtures immediately after that?

Pretty sure Hazard is out for the whole season. So they want to delay it until summer?

The only logical solution is to postpone the domestic competitions across Europe for 4 weeks with games to resume 2 weeks later, players training. Then be review in two weeks and every 2 weeks depending upon the situation To accommodate it the European Nations Championships should be postpone for one year and all international games cancelled for 1 year as the outbreak is likely to return next winter

Agreed. If catching them was mathematically impossible, fair enough, but it isnt so fuck 'em. RAWK will be fun :)
City 10 games to play, 57 pts.
Win 10/10, finish on 87 pts.
Dippers 9 games to play, 82 pts.

Win 2 or get 6/27 possible pts, finish on 88 pts.

Has a team ever won 10/10? Of course, City did more than once.
Has a team ever failed to get 6/27 pts?
Sunderland lost 9 in a row in 2006.

Calling the league over before the league is over means a trip to the high court.
Not only for title award but for the European places, EPL prize money and relegation. West Ham went to court over the Tevez situation remember.

Play offs? With PGMOL &VAR?
What if you are 1pt from safety for relegation and then lose your play off games? Do you get relegated?

Scrap the season.
Stand by for Dipper meltdown.

Because that's what's happened on the biggest population on Earth: China, and it's what's happening in one of the most densely populated countries on Earth: South Korea. If the host population shrinks, transmission collapses.

In my opinion what you've got now are national governments who realise that that virus is about to be wiped out taking drastic measures so that they can take political credit.
