Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

they are thinking 90 mins and not people packed onto public transport there and back that they could stopand i beg to differ with that advice!
I agree that is the highest risk, it's probably sensible to rethink/ stagger journeys there and back to minimise overcrowding where possible?

Please listen to the statement in full, we are controlling this better than Italy, France and many others.

We are 4 weeks behind Italy due to this, the authorities are doing the right thing here and will continue to. They are managing this the best way according to the scientific advice - including behavioural science.

This is a key point - we don’t want to kick things in too early and have to maintain it for much much longer than we really have to.

More action will slowly be taken at the right time to minimise impact, both on society AND economically, take school closures - if they were closed today the burden of childcare would be place on grandparents and the elderly in the first place which isn’t good.

School closures, event cancellations etc will happen as and when required. The timelines are understood and plans in place and communicated throughout government departments already, that much is clear.

It’s not just keep calm and carry on, it’s keep calm and manage the f#*k out of this.

Flatten the infection rate profile and allow the NHS time to be able to deal with this.
Sorry, but cancelling completely optional sporting events isn't like closing schools too early. We can do it indefinitely with little impact to the country on the whole and the suggestion that we couldn't go an extra week or two without football or horse racing is lunacy.

Gullible or what!

The vast majority of people who have the infection, don't know they have it and don't show major symptoms and the peak will be the end of May. Scotland has banned gatherings now, which will probably last a couple of months.

So Scottish football will be affected as they're cancelling/postponing all events with more than 500 people but in England the advice is different, baffling.

So now this infection has multiplied according to just the confirmed figures, the ones who have got it but are thinking it's a cold, or do not know, are all going to pile on public transport, packed like sardines, queue up, pack pubs and do the same going home.

The possibility after this is potentially thousands could then overwhelm the NHS at the same time. I'm not sure that's managing it properly and I think it's just luck and logistics we are a few weeks behind Italy.

Our fan base appears to be a lot older than most so would be more vulnerable if they catch this. I'm not sure it's a price worth paying but I'm sure plenty will trot out the ," Grow a pair/man up" bollocks.
