It is beyond resources in normal times, let alone now
A lot of what the government put out is designed to negate panic as that crashes the economy and that is their only concern whatever they say

If you want direct quotes criticising the UK government’s new announcement today then you’ll have to wait a day or two.
People are referring to the many instances of guidance provided by the WHO and CDC that contradict the assessment of sporting event associated public behaviour being a low risk for viral transmission in the context of containment and/or delay of transmission in this pandemic. Or, to it put more accurately, that the risk (both health and economic) is not sufficient to outweigh the possible economic impact of prohibiting sporting events and thus reducing the associated public behaviour that may increase viral transmission.
That would be a good objective measure,i will keep an eye out in the spring for this winters figures although it would be more of an indication than proofUnless Karen׳s right and there’s a load of people dying with pneumonia on their death certificate having not been tested.
I really don’t know, and we’ll only find out if the stats for pneumonia and COPD are much higher than usual.
Yuck.You can always watch reruns.
What does he mean?

its creating panic because no one trusts a word their saying, how anyone can stand there straight faced and say events and school could be damaging if closed, the only thing that gets damaged in that case is the economy so its versus peoples lives, truly schocking and something i only thought the likes of Hitler could be capable ofIt is beyond resources in normal times, let alone now

Not at all and I’m all for sporting events etc being cancelled but people are still going to be on tubes, trams, trains and buses unless we totally restrict movement and I certainly don’t see that happening. Are you suggesting if we can’t stop contamination completely we should just say fuck it carry on regardless ?
What does he ever mean? Nobody should ever listen to a word the **** ever says.
Possibly in two weeks when the UK cases will probably be peaking the schools will be closing for easter anyway, so I suppose closing now would mean working families need child care for a month which would be extremely difficult for many health service workers.A bloke who seemed to know his stuff on a podcast I listened to earlier disagrees. Reason for his disagreement was that 38% of nurses have children so would be unable to work
And we now have two cases of Godwin's law in the thread I think.its creating panic because no one trusts a word their saying, how anyone can stand there straight faced and say events and school could be damaging if closed, the only thing that gets damaged in that case is the economy so its versus peoples lives, truly schocking and something i only thought the likes of Hitler could be capable of
I’m just advocating minimising risk, stopping as much none essential travelling/mass gatherings would help. Not at all and I’m all for sporting events etc being cancelled but people are still going to be on tubes, trams, trains and buses unless we totally restrict movement and I certainly don’t see that happening.

Based on it being pretty obvious, after listening to BJ tonightBased on?
It’s also because the worst cases of domestic violence and economic stress in households are during school holidays when kids are at home. A lot of welfare officers in schools don’t want schools closing.Part of the reluctance to shut schools will likely be due to many of those parents being medical staff. That would be a large chunk of front line staff not available. With the reasoning kids are low risk and most teachers being young and healthy. If they have to close to stop the kids being a carrier the parents will have to stay home, having gran and grandad look after them is not a reasonable solution given this virus is much more of a health risk to them. People are stuck between a rock and a hard place whatever choices they make it seems.
So we are now comparing the PM to hitler because he's not doing what you think he should.
nice!
