Anyone regular gym members thinking of staying away?
The gym has been my salvation over the past few months and is tied into my current wellbeing (at least steadying it). Used to run a fair bit but the gym is like a community so I get that from it along with the more obvious benefits.
Was think of going later (I go every day) otherwise I’ll have no other human contact this weekend but I’m reevaluating that now.
Same here, not sure what to do really. Mum is 74 and has some health issues. I'm not particularly worried about myself, but I do worry about her, don't want to stop visiting or anything.

One hell of a gamble though.
It's not a decison I would like to have to make. It looks like a very risky strategy. The most worrying thing is we are taking a different approach to the rest of the world. So someone has got it wrong. The other problem is the Government has not clearly communicated to community leaders across the rest of the UK and I believe we have been slow in our preparations behind the scenes in terms of NHS training and equipment. We should be on a war-footing by now. For example why the hell are British people still flying abroad for holidays and taking cruises? This is just bloody stupid and sends the wrong message.

Keeping away from the gym - too many shared sweaty handles and rebreathing large quantities of shared air in limited space. I'm sticking to running outside and my rowing machine at home.

I was at my gym yesterday; like a ghost town. I swim every day and have already bought a wetsuit so I can get my daily fix if needs be by swimming in open water, there are a couple of places in Manchester that do this. It's also getting lighter in the evening so will be out on the bike. So, so important to keep mentally fit. The only major change I've made is not to use the sauna at the gym, but, apart from that, I've been swimming as per normal. The chlorine kills everything! Keep up your running. Get outside to do it if you have to. I'm sure one or two of the club members would join you.

Was off to southern Spain on Tuesday for a week, but just had a call from the travel company to say it was cancelled after Spain declared a total shutdown.

Ah well. Glad I wasn't already there and quarantined or unable to get back. At least I'll get a refund.
We landed in fuerteventura yesterday, now I've got the mrs in full on panic mode, trying to book a flight home, she told me if I dont go with her, then she will divorce me. What do I do? She is sat in the room panicking, I'm drinking San miguel by the pool waiting for advise from jet2.

I rang my gym yesterday to see if they’re still open and they said “business as usual”.

That’s the one place I hope stays open, it’s not the best idea, probably stupid to go, but it’d be the only thing to break up my time with nowt else to do.

You’d be surprised how many negative reactions we received. Or maybe you wouldn’t bearing in mind how utterly mad society has become over recent years. Doesn’t really bother me too much but really bothered my wife. Every fucker had an opinion and most of the opinions were that we were cunts. Shows how quickly it’s moving though, within a couple of days the penny dropped with most of them. Thanks everyone for the kind words btw.
What sort of tossers would give you a negative reaction for looking after your son to the best of your ability?? I despair of some people, I hope things work out for you and your family.

I am hearing British Airways ,and Ryan Air, are in serious financial trouble because of this crisis.

Ryan Air collapse could be imminent.

10 more deaths in England.

Not sure if this Twitter thread has already been posted on here, but it seems to give a good explanation of the UK approach:

It is a good article as regards the explanation of herd immunity. Whether it works or is justified is another matter.
1. He does point out that it is high risk and involves the country having the right resources in the right place and at the right time to manage the fall out ( I.e deaths) from approx 40M infections ( 60% of the population as per the Govt). Very difficult to 'manage' this situation with inadequate, underfunded and stretched resources and so many unknowns.
2. If you're going along a high risk path which is different from every other country you need to be honest with and take people along with you something the Govt can't or won't do. A good example is the banning of major sporting events. Under the herd theory you actually want these events to take place so that people can infect one another ( same with keeping schools open so that kids can spread the infection around). You then of course need to retain the option to stop these events or close schools when you want to subsequently slow down the rate of infection at a later point in the cycle. But the Govt, didn't say that in the presser on Thursday , they defended allowing these events to proceed with the ludicrous argument they were low risk which fooled no one, puzzled most ordinary punters and and led to the Govt being seen as con artists and at the same time casting doubt on their honesty and the whole policy.
3. The problem with this behavioural theory is of course people might not behave the way the model predicts. Again the banning of football games where the herd theory says proceed but the Premier League stepped in with a ban.
4. After having read this article, it's worth checking out alternative theories which dismiss the herd theory as bollocks.

I get Stagecoach buses every weekday and they are fucking hanging! They look like they have NEVER been cleaned.

The single decker ones aren’t too bad but I get on/off at the end of the line and nobody ever gets on to give them a clean before they set off on their route again.

But the top deck of the double deckers, fuck me, they’re filthy! Every one I’ve been on have had a line of dirt/scum along the edge at the bottom and the seats are ridiculously dirty. But I sit up there because fewer people get on the top deck, so I get all the windows open and at least breathe some fresh air.

I’ve bought those throwaway plastic gloves and some flu face masks for my bus journeys next week.

I know I use the 219, 201/3, 205/6 every day and they are filthy.

I was sent working south manchester 3 years ago and had to get 2-3 buses to work, I was off sick for a while for the first time in 9 years and when my vboss asked I was convinced it was spending up to 2 hrs on buses home and the bacteria on them.

I got moved back nearer home amd haven't been off since.
