China officially have 80k infected. Let's multiply that by 1000. That's 80 million. Which is less than 8% of the population.

And the UK government is expecting 80% infection rate. Crazy.

Yeah I suspect that is the case. What is an “underlying Health Issue” for example?

Millions of people over 50 take Statins or blood pressure tablets for example. Would they be classed as an UHI?

I think it's more Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) issues, so basically people with severe chest and breathing issues i.e., bronchial, obesity, needing ventilation, asthma and similar. I suffered badly from sarcoidosis 10 years ago, so I might be in the same boat as I have badly scarred lungs from that period.

I'll find out tomorrow if I'm likely to be affected.

I think Merkel said Germany were expecting 70% as well. I doubt we'll ever know the true number of infections.

To have an infection rate of 60-70% it would take about 2 years
and you have to watch the whole population and not only mainly Wuhan.
A second wave will infect other Chinese regions, pandemically.

Thinking about it a bit more I wonder if the document has been leaked deliberately to drip the timescale and potential numbers into the public realm. How can those in the highest risk groups be expected to remain in isolation for that long?

maybe it’s being leaked so they can “ get their affairs in order”.

He's very good but seems to not know everything. 5Live had an emergency medicine specialist on yesterday who said that multiple people can be hooked up to each ventilator which throws his maths off completely.

He said up to 4 people could be hooked up depending on how bad a state they were in.

Also, I don't want to sound disparaging because I think his content is very good, but I do wonder how many of his viewers know he's not a medical doctor, but a nurse with a teaching PhD?
You are being very disparaging

Dr Campbell, who is a retired Nurse Teacher and A and E nurse,is very exerienced health professional, highly trained in the field and in his teaching role

Plenty seem to know what his qualifications are and value his way of explaining the situation better than our officials are doing

Can you link me to who said 4 patients can share 1 ventilator as that doesn't sound right to me

Speaking of the horse racing we should see a massive outbreak in Cheltenham soon if it really was the danger that people said it was.

250,000 visitors to the racecourse over the 4 days, 2.5x the population of the town and most of them ate drank and slept in Cheltenham and the surrounding area too.

4-5 days standard time to show symptoms, today is 5 days from Day 1 of racing.

My nephew went to the races. He lives in York. So if anyone did catch it at Cheltenham, it will could be spread anywhere in the country, not necessarily in Cheltenham itself.

i think they are counting anything they can,it is a way of keeping panic in check
the health sec used the word most had underlying issues in an interview but we have been told all,i want them to say what they are counting

The fuckin silence from the government today is a disgrace. I’m self isolating in the outhouse but all the advice I have is isolate, don’t ring 111 and I can’t get tested unless I’m in hospital. Do my kids go to school? Does my wife go to work? They’re totally fine and loads like me just carrying on and coughing over everyone coz they’re not getting concrete advice. Poor poor show mr Johnson. Mind you I can’t say I’m surprised
Heard on the news if one person in the house has or thinks they have cv then everyone who lives there has to self isolate for 7 days. Hope u recover soon

Some more details for Germany:

only positive covid test results have been centrally registered so far.
(That's why I didn't find a number about total tests made.)

Negative test numbers are known in the regional labs now will be registered centrally, too.
Then we will have a big sample across the country and a much better assessment of dark figures by statistics.
And we have an idea how our curve looks exactly, which is key for further measures.

Right now tests are mainly being made at the end of home isolations to confirm recovery,
and in hospitals, where areas of covid+ and covid- patients are being established.

Experts told us on tv over and over again to strictly keep a distance of 2 meters,
in a shop cue, walking in the park, in job meetings or public transport and to politely remind each other permanently.

Borders to France and Austria have been closed to stop cross border shopping due to closed shops in those 2 countries.

I’ve seen and heard lots of figures from different countries but not heard any info coming from Russia?, any one know anything?

Well that's not going to be possible for people using public transport is it.

So, I would probably include coronary issues as if you get the virus it will put a strain on major organs.

There's not much else that can be classed as "underlying issues" as major as I've indicated.
