Getting a vaccine may not take long - I think the US injected one into 100 people today but the clinical trial lasts at least a year. Hence the 18 month time frame to do the trail, observe the subjects and then produce it.

I wonder if it seems to be working, whether they will let people sign a waiver and take there chances.

They’ll know quickly if it works. The range of doses was big - I think it was 50, 100 and 250. The big issue is whether your balls or tits fall off!

Italy’s population is a lot older than ours and they also tend to live in bigger numbers as a family i.e. grandmother, kids and grandchildren so three generations under one roof. Not saying that doesn’t happen here but more so there.

agree with all that, but in the major population centres in Milan and Turin they tend to live in nuclear families just like us. Extended families is more a rural thing.

You may have the capability to work from home but it's still at your employer's discretion whether you do work from home.

I have since been told that or chief executive of has informed us to turn in and they will decide tomorrow for us.

Not being funny but if it gets to the point of just walking out I will. I not arsed, I have a mum on her own at 75 years of age, a father in law of the same age also on his own.

They can fuck off and sort it out later on as far as I concerned with me.

I would have thought any public service would want those who can work at home to be home. I can be called in to do another job that is required if I am well enough if the shit hits the fan later

Ahh i am fine squire as i essentially already self isolate being a tech geek, thank you for asking. I hope you and yours are keeping alright? My social life is fine to as it consists of walking Chopper around the lakes near me which are pretty vast so i don't have to do any of that messy interacting with other humans nonsense hehe.

Have you had to change your daily routines drastically or just a bit of extra precautions?

Something that wasn't made clear about this 14 day isolation issue. What if I get a cough and on the 14th day the missus gets a cough, on the 28th day one of the kids gets a cough etc etc... then back to me and we start again. Extreme example but you know what I mean

Also if you get symptoms and recover without being tested, how do you know if you've had it and therefore built up immunity?

There is a clear logic, whether or not you agree with it.

First, on a scale of 1-10, the importance of attending school is rated higher than going for a pint or a curry.

Second, if schools are shut, lots of health workers with kids will have to stay off work to look after them.

Third, looking after kids will fall in many cases to grandparents, who are in the higher risk group.

So I’ve been told to work from home for 8 weeks. So they would be playing bloody fortnite all day. My wife helps in another special school. I read later on in the thread that the kids would be the ones building immunity but wouldn’t they just be spreading it? Not sure what to do tbh.

My Mrs’s company has emailed tonight after everyone has left saying something along the lines of “we’ve seen the government message and are looking at ramping up our working from home measures, come in tomorrow and we’ll have a big team meeting and let you know”.

They’re Accountants, they can all literally work from anywhere with internet and all work off laptops.

Why the fuck drag the whole workforce in to then tell them they can work from home?

It’s ludicrous.

I don’t even think the experts know mate and that’s those in every country.

The advice from everyone, including the WHO, is significantly lacking.

Me too. Got into work this morning and had three show hires cancelled immediately. And four sales orders that totalled £120. We're supposed to turnover £3k per week just to cover overheads. I think come friday I'll be discussing redundancy with my boss.

As I understand, if you recover from those symtoms and you HAD corona you recover because your immune system has build antibodies and the virus can't reproduce itself anymore and (after a certain time nobody knows exactly) you are not contagious anymore, and immune (most probably).

You only KNOW if you had corona, if you would be tested on antibodies - that test does not exist yet at all AFAIK.
The existing test only detects the virus itself (not your antibodies).

Your example indeed is extreme and quite unrealistic. In a shared household the infection probably should be quicker
(that's why we are reducing contacts now!). Problem is, maybe we don't show any symptoms although infected.

Cheers. That makes sense and it also makes a big difference from blanket "stay in". Loads in this group have dogs, allotments, etc that contribute so much to wellness.
