Is it time for the restructure of the premier league and the EFL?

I would Reduce the premier to 18 teams the championship to 20.

Premier have 3 teams relegated as is now and have the top 3 from championship go straight up but the fourth from bottom in premier have play of with the winning of a play of team of the 4th and 5th of the championship! Reduce the money from every team in premier by a % to filter down to championship plus the parachute money to distribute to every championship regarding what position they finish!

Perhaps it's too early but how does that reduce the number of teams?

Premier have 20 now championship 24 yep the pyramid below them will have to change..

It’s just that football could be not back for rest of the year because how can it when they say a vaccine will be around 12/18 months?

Just think if that’s the case a total rethink of the football leagues could happen now and aim it at filtering down mouth more money in the football pyramid.

This time last week Spain had 2k confirmed cases of COVID-19, that's the same as the UK are reporting so far this week. A week later Spain had 7k confirmed cases. If anyone thinks there is going to be any football between now and the end of the year, then they are delusionists. I think both UEFA and the PL are just being cruel to Dippers by even giving them a semblance of hope that this season will be completed. Close but no cigar boys, sorry
I think you’re right that there will be no football this year. But if football resumes in 10-12 months time it wouldn’t make sense to start a new season. It would make more sense to finish off this season.

Of course it would mean putting off any decisions about this season until it becomes clear when football will resume. That might be too stressful for those who are desperate for closure on this season. But it doesn’t really make sense to make any decisions about this season for some time.

it would make sense to start another season because. The squads will be different with out of contract players moving on, the summer transfer window been and gone. It wouldn't be the same season with 10/12 month gap. Unless you are going to stop out of contract players leaving and ban the summer transfer window

How would a season starting in 10-12 months be structured?

Not for me. Doesn't make sense to screw up a second season.

In your suggestion, what happens after this seasons remaining games are played out

this season null n void start the new season with the same positions as the end of the 2018/19 (last season) same champion/Europe league groups and go again. out of contract players can leave and you can have a summer transfer window. Just start as a normal season would.

If there is no football allowed for 12 months at least it could be time to restructure the whole of the leagues rebrand it all for August next year! My earlier post on here is how I would change it.

I appreciate no one knows how this pandemic will pan out over the months ahead, but to write off another season just to complete this one which is a mess isnt the right thing
If the closure goes beyond autumn then it would be impossible to have a meaningful 20/21 season.

A full new season starting in 10-12 months time? UEFA seem fairly determined that the Euros will take place in summer 2021. But even if they don’t there would have to be a summer break if the PL is ever to return to its usual calendar.

The financial imperative to finish this season by July 31st is that the PL will have to repay hundreds of millions to Sky, BT & rights holders globally if it isn't. This directly impacts all clubs (including us) and it will be the main driver in getting it over the line as even PL clubs could go under without their main source of income.

Liverpool winning the title isn't the main consideration in this case. The manner in which they would win it is terrible anyway so maybe everyone should relax a bit about this as if we are being honest they were on the way to winning it at a canter.

wouldn't the next season start after the euros in august/september 2021 like normal ? that would seem logical. If we are going 12 months without football than waiting to start after the euros wouldn't be that much of a problem ?

Maybe it's time to bring in salary and transfer caps when everything starts up again?

The thing is too as much as I’ve been thinking the one good thing coming from this disaster is the chance to laugh at Liverpool. From our point of view we’ve got so much left to play for and with Laporte and Sané back could end up having another truly amazing season.
