I may be completely wrong but i still have this nagging feeling that they are leaning towards the idea of riding this out, while they may not admit it on TV it may still be the preferred option.

I thought the policy had changed and that they were going to ban public gatherings, force pubs, clubs, theatres etc.. to close and bring in strict social isolation. It was only this week there was talk of anyone over 70 being told to isolate by the end of the week an possibly other people at risk.

This has also all gone quiet? It may be that they are trying to create a sense of calm and it seemed to be the case tonight.

I suspect that bans will come in at some stage. It just depends when they consider the time to be right.

Whilst still a shocking number of deaths Italy has the 2nd oldest population in the world and that's why their figures are so high.

Most drugs have unintended effects that can be used in other illnesses,they need to be tested and licenced for that use,the FDA is looking at anti malarial drugs to see if it will help with the virus,it won't cure or be a vaccine but might help with the effects of the illness

It's probably something quite common that can fight this virus. For example my missus is taking simvastatin for her ms as they think it may slow it down and its main use is to lower cholesterol. I did see a video on you tube today where it suggests blowing a hairdryer up your nose to heat up the sinuses where the virus is. I would think that would be rather silly although expect Boris to recommend doing it in his statement tomorrow

You are more than likely right, i got a sense of momentum early in the week and from what i have seen and read it seems to have developed quicker than they thought it would. But they seem to have stepped away from heavy measures. Hopefully things improve and if they can manage the situation without bringing in real draconian measures then everyone will be happy.

The report was on BBC news and then it goes to an interview with an Italian professor from the Imperial College of Life Sciences in London, who has been on the ground helping there for two weeks and says he is ‘very sad to see the UK making the same mistakes as Italy and this will lead to an outbreak worse than the one in Lombardy’ and is very worried for his children in London.

if that’s the case they need to shut London down bloody soon.

At the risk of annoying people i will say again that we wasted our time advantage and going our own way with going for herd immunity has done us no favours at all,boris and the experts admit the virus is moving much quicker than they thought it would,we were shown the way to go but didn't follow it

A weeks a long time in a global pandemic it was only 7 days ago the message was wash your hands and go to the match and developing a herd immunity. I think the influence of behavioral science is dictating a lot of their decisions and why they are delaying what seems to me to be the inevitable. Seems these behavioral scientists have been nowhere near a supermarket recently.

13 doctors and nurses that were being exposed to it daily and possibly had different strains hitting their immune system at the same time. You can't use front line staff deaths as a way of saying the underlying conditions information is wrong.
