If that was a joke, it fell flat. And if not a joke, then I don't know what to say. Other than you don't understand how politics or finance works.

I understand you haven’t got a sense of humour, we are pretty privileged to have Rishi Sunak on this forum. I think it’s pretty encouraging he’s turning the spending taps on.

If we don’t do it now the thing will spread. That is guaranteed.
It's guaranteed anyway. The government is advised by very clever people and I am sure they are taking what they believe to be the optimal steps. They will have modelled to death the different scenarios of spread in response to different measures at different times and are doing everything we can to keep the peak numbers of sick as low as possible. It's not just about the numbers, it's about the peak numbers. The NHS' ability to cope or not (not, obviously) is hugely dependent on how big the peak is, not how many people ultimately get sick.

There was a woman being interviewed by Andrew Neill yesterday who is a professor of some specialist subject (I forgot exactly what) to do with behavioural science and study of how populations respond to different measures. She pointed out that if you cancel an open air event and then everyone goes to watch it in the pub, then it would probably make things worse.

I think people are too quick to criticize and to assume incompetence or ulterior motives when the reality is these are simply difficult and nuanced decisions.

Openly rebelling

We ain't france you know who have been i rebellion for months.

Best you will here is a few scraps over the last jar of dolmio.

If we go into lockdown then a real presence of police and army needs to be on the ground to maintain order and stop any chance of looting.
Bollocks I could do with a few new TVs

The powers that be may be right TBF. The last 3:days UK figures have seen rises thankfully quite a bit lower than expected. Circa +18% per day rather than +35%.
But isn’t the 18% figure meaningless? Tests are being rationed so the number of confirmed cases is being artificially depressed.

I’m sure that’s the case. I trust the experts not the government. Our % increase may have fallen but so has the rate of testing from what I can understand. On a separate subject, maybe the modelling shows that the NHS will not cope irrespective of timing of lock down. I have heard absolutely no discussion about their contingency plans to increase the number of ICU beds, infrastructure and trained staff. If the government were being transparent shouldn’t we by now?

The french riot over a snapped baguette, it would take something like this to make Britain do so.

I agree with your last part, they should shoot the cunts if they start what they did in 2011.
