3076 new cases, 335 deaths in Spain. They are few days away of current Italian numbers.

Numbers seem to be stabilising in Spain. Let's hope it's not a one off and the lockdown is working.

We can tentatively say that the growth in reported new cases in Spain suggests that we are at or near a turning point in Spain but we will only really be able to tell this in hindsight. Keep an eye on it. Spain and Italy will be a forecast for the UK.

Spain is taking this a great deal more seriously than the UK, I can assure you.
For 10 days now virtually the entire population has remained in doors.

The UK a week behind needs to be implementing that right now. No ifs or buts.

I should point out that here in Spain lockdown means lockdown of the entire population. There are no people wandering around the streets, no people playing golf, no-one on the beaches. No take away food vendors or cafes. Nada.

Nearly every retailer is closing stores but Next are going ahead with their in store sale and the Sales Director has told staff they need to take advantage when others are shut.

Two close family members of mine have to report into work.

Fucking disgraceful.

Judging by the rate of increase tailing off compared to Italy, it's what's needed and is what we should be doing.

Compared with Spain, the government is doing nothing. People going out as they please will not control this. While keeping the over 70s at home will protect them, younger people milling about spreading this virus will lead to many deaths amongst this group.
As someone said the people spouting the stiff upper lip bollocks are actually the Luftwaffe in this case.

The more I think about it, it looks for all the world that the Govt. are implementing the herd plan for the young/ignorant masses.

ordered a pizza last night to help make our food last longer. The instructions when ordering was that they was to be no contact. We left instructions for them to ring the door bell and leaving the pizza on the door step as we can see thought the window. That's how it was delivered, he knocked on the door, we waved through the window and he gave us the thumps up.

How often can you leave for grocery shopping?

Not sure if there are any rules in place for frequency of going to supermarkets but only allowed out one at a time. So far so good in regards to food and other important things being available on shelves. From my experience so far in my part of Spain the people are behaving very well for the most part.
No doubt things will become a little harder the longer we go on.

The Government's handling of this crisis has been criminal. Thousands of people are going to lose their lives because of it.

Yet there are fools on here still defending them.

Yeah, idiots like the govs chief scientific advisor. He said that the initial advice to cabinet was conflicting. What is a PM supposed to do when one set of scientists say do plan A and another say do plan B?
Calling them criminal is just OTT.

Colleague at work has had to go to London to get provisions for his mother in law. He had to visit 8 shops to get the basic provisions she needed. There's probably a reasonable chance that the panic buying that caused this has meant that he could have picked up the virus and given it to her. What are people supposed to do? Let them starve to death or kill them with the virus. Panic buying is going to kill people.

But all that isolating and deep cleaning would have impinged upon our British liberty to mass in line, with our stomachs resting in our supermarket trolleys, queuing as an island race to buy stuff we will likely never need.
