COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Thing is, you've got to think of it this way. It's not only your self-interest not to get ill. It's your duty. Anybody who gets ills will expect the health services to look after them, if it gets to a certain point of seriousness. I absolutely guarantee it. If you've taken all reasonable precautions, then fair enough. Even if you haven't, well, you're still going to want to be looked after. Who wouldn't? The projected figures for the next two months already indicate that all hospitals in the western world will get to breaking point and beyond, very rapidly (already the case in Italy). As for Africa and Asia, this could simply be carnage.

For those who might of read the previous posts about amazon prime now food delivery, ordered 06.30 this morning and delivered an hour ago, everything present and pretty damn good service. Really useful for anyone who can’t get food to someone they care about.
So I go on amazon prime at 6:30 and how do I order the food? Did you say it’s Morrison’s?

Pretty clear from today’s press reports that the UKs entire approach to this virus is being managed by Dominic Cummings. Would like to know how an unelected individual has managed to grab so much power and influence. How can the nation hold him accountable? Just driven past my local park and playing fields - jam packed with people congregating and playing football- people are NOT listening to advice.
Is he the one who caused the resignation of the previous Minister of Finance because Boris entrusted finance to his team and not the team next door at number 11?

If so is it possible there may be financial reasons that continue to allow the virus to spread and not necessarily medical ones?

The advice from the experts a couple of days ago was you can go out and walk the door and excercise but stay away from people,it has confused people i think
It seems like everyone is going to the same place expecting it to be empty. The reservoir me and my wife often walk around (we’ve always walked a couple of meters apart so no change there) has gone from fairly secluded to very busy in the last week

First time out this morning since Monday, I decided to go on a pleasant drive on my own obviously, I came back via Hollingworth lake from the hills it was absolutely jam packed.. what part of idiotic do theses people not understand ?

Lads and lasses, online shopping tip,
Amazon prime now
It’s Morrison’s basically, I’m sure most on here use amazon in case you can’t do new registrations.
Place what you can get into your basket today and try and complete order, likely it will say no slots available. Your basket stays as is albeit some items may be gone but you can add.
The way amazon work is daily workloads and route planning. Slots become available for same day delivery in the am. I’ve just done my order at 06.30 for today at 12-1300.
i got a lot of stuff I need without going mad.

keep this to those that may need it, don’t chuck it out to twitter etc, yesterday friends on here were struggling with relatives getting stuff.
when the panic dies down in the shops I expect you’ll definitely get next day with ease or same day if your an early bird.

Health officials have urged those considered most at risk from the disease because of their health conditions to begin "shielding" themselves by staying at home.

When will the letters go out?
Letters will go out this week "strongly advising" people not to go out for at least 12 weeks from Monday.

Why is it 1.5 million people and who are they?
Health officials believe this group is considered most at risk from COVID-19 because of their health conditions and will need to self-isolate for at least 12 weeks.

Why is it called shielding?
Shielding is a practice used to protect extremely vulnerable people from coming into contact with coronavirus. It is designed to ensure people who are clinically extremely vulnerable minimise all interaction between those who are extremely vulnerable and others.

My wife is waiting for her letter. She’s on methotrexate for rheumatoid arthritis. Not sure if she’ll get a letter. Apparently not all immuno suppressants are included. In the meantime I’ll be in the spare room at night and we’re trying to stay 2 meters apart. Fortunately our rooms are a decent size so it’s not that big a problem

Download amazon “primenow app” I didn’t have to register just logged in using amazon account, I placed items in the basket and had to wait for delivery slot which came live when I checked at 06.30 the following day.

but are they?

people need to get out of the house and exercise or go for a walk. So long as they stay a sensible distance from others what is the issue.

so for example what is worse me my wife and my son who all live in the same house stay here and drive each other mad , or we go for a walk , the three of us around a field? What does it matter weare not meeting other people or touching other people . We are just people going for a walk on a nice day . If you keep a safe distance from other people you might see what is the issue?

I am going for a run later on my own, am I bellend . What harm am I doing anyone?

this could last many months , saying people cannot even go out of their house for months on end will cause all kinds of mental health issues. Keep your distance but get fresh air if you can.
Whilst agreeing strongly with your general sentiments, you can’t have everyone descending en masse on the same beauty spots.

I’d go stir crazy staying indoors all the time but would pick my venues and times carefully if venturing out .

Possibly, although I did read that he tried to convince Johnson to lock down London last week but was ignored

We can only hope that it's the selfish arseholes who just refuse to socially distance themselves who catch this virus and die rather than those who are doing as much as they can to help protect others.
They'll catch it, have an illness which they will survive but pass on ho their families older members. Many of whome will die as a result.
They will then blame everyone else for their idiocy.

Ms Sturgeon says life should not feel normal right now and she asks the public to consider if their lives feel normal - and if it does, whether they need to make changes

Nothing wrong with going for a walk or a run as long as you avoid busy areas and stay away from people. I went for a bike ride yesterday morning before most people had got out of their beds

Its the idiots that are packing out snowdonia, beaches, the lake district etc that are the problem. I saw pictures of the car parks at Snowdon… totally full with cars spilling out onto the road. Not a chance these people walked up and down the mountain without getting within 2m of anybody else

Anybody with a brain would have seen the state of it and either turn straight around or carry on to somewhere safe

Yep. And on that note:

It is difficult isn't it,just when you want to reassure people with a hug

Yeah been up there with Mrs Moon...for a drive, the madness of people never ceases to amaze me.

Parked up in the hills for 10 mins fresh air & stretched our legs nowhere near the masses probably 2 miles further into the Moors.
