First of all caught up with virus news on BM and Spanish TV and other UK news programs.
Garden maintenance including about 20 barrow fulls of a local plant we know as hotten totten which was threatening to take over the whole garden. Left it just outside our land for our near neighbours with 400 goats who make short work of most vegetable matter.
Then a bit of chainsaw work on a couple of young palm trees that needed their deadly lower branches removing and chopped into 6 inch strips to pack into heavy duty bags for basura bin (even the goats leave this deadly spiky debris alone).
Orange trees next. Can't believe how big the navel oranges are anyway end of growing season so pick them then wife reduced tree volume by 50 or 60 percent. Again branches food for goats. Lemons next but they are much more prickly than oranges but no problem for the goats.
Afternoon catching up with virus info then watching a few episodes of a US DIY program ( Brothers or something like that).
Dogs out and about with us so no need for walking them.
Evening partly talking and relaxing on due south facing patio but a little chilly after dark so tv at night with a couple of glasses of red wine.

Life on lockdown is not that bad.

Spent the morning with a pop to the shop for flowers, called to mums but stayed in the garden while she was at the door.
Went back home and played football in the garden with girlfriends son, painted an old set of chest drawers and then cooked a nice meal together.
Got to go work tomorrow but think it’ll be only for a day or 2.

Could certainly get used to days like today plus garden getting major makeover this week while the weather is good.
 
Due to crisis some free places now available to NHS at mcr University as less students around, trying to avoid NHS workers using public transport
Those currently paying carry on paying but now more spaces, staff either ill or looking after kids, some schools insist both parents must be key workers not just one.

The blitz spirit is part myth.

The bit that is true is that Hitler thought it’d break Britain mentally and the people would turn on Churchill for not surrendering and stopping the bombing. It had the opposite effect and made people more motivated towards the allies winning the war.

The false bit is that everyone sang songs and skipped in bomb shelters holding hands and looking after each other. The reality is that people trampled over each other to get into the underground, looting was rife in a lot of places and even public service workers like police officers and the fire brigade stole from burning buildings.

Of course it wasn’t everyone and of course, as now, you had millions of people acting differently.

I don’t blame those that did necessarily, we owe that generation a great deal and they truly were the golden generation. I’m just highlighting even people then weren’t exempt from the selfishness that the survival instinct causes.

They weren’t, and your examples are all fair comment t, but society is immeasurably more selfish these days.

Americans to introduce a 45 minute virus test within day. That's a big step forward. Presumably then it will roll out internationally, or there will be equivalents across the world. That would be huge. You could test a whole plane whilst they disembarked etc.

3200 strong trial of antivirals started today - Europe wide. Predominantly French.

Of course its a myth - hence the existence of Spivs etc. We also failed to learn from our own experience of the effect on the populace of bombing - the Allies moved to area bombing which had a massive impact more that the Luftwaffe did on the UK but it didn't break the Germans.

On top of this, drinking plenty of water will always do you a favour or two.

Our last major war, people lied about their age to go on the front line, and we are being asked to park our arses on the sofa for a few week and for some they can't even manage do that!!! The stress the hospitals and the health professionals must be under doesn't best thinking about. I just hope that the message starts to sink in soon.

Wouldn’t say large, there’s 69m people in this country, maybe 2-5% of that would have been out? But totally agree with the sentiments, it’s why animals will get my charity over humans.
