Yeah some footballers even got tested when asymptomatic. None of us would get such treatment. You are saying we are all just people, but we’re not according to the testing. Some are more important than the rest and treated differently. It’s a fair criticism. It’s even on ITV News. “Why is Prince Charles being tested and so many NHS workers are not?” It should be the same testing rules for everyone.

Relative in early 60s is on front desk at large NHS hospital - no mask supplied and told not to wear one if she could source one "so as not to frighten people". Don't they need to be frightened?

(She also reckons "it's rife" in the hospital but - without testing - how would they know?)

Whether it is being frightened of going to hospital or other factors (fewer road accidents, sports injuries) they are less busy at A&E than usual. Covid suspects go elsewhere.

I think it's planned to be for 2 wards of 2,000 beds each, so 4,000 beds total.

The NHS Nightingale Hospital will open next week.

The temporary hospital will have up-to 4,000 beds available for the public, with its opening set to alleviate the strain on hospitals across the country.

Health secretary Matt Hancock revealed the plans to open the hospital in the governments daily press conference-designed to inform the public of updates throughout the development of the coronavirus pandemic.

The NHS Nightingale Hospital will be opened in the London ExCeL Centre and will consist of two wards.


It will only be open to members of the public who have contracted coronavirus.
