COVID-19 — Coronavirus

My dad slowly recovering from a major bowel operation at almost 89 has been moved to another ward, along with the rest, to make way for coronavirus patients. On government advice today all visits have been cancelled. He was only allowed one designated visitor for one hour a day anyway. They must be anticipating a large intake.

I hope he gets well enough to go home soon. He doesn't do modern technology and doesn't even have a mobile so he will be even more isolated now.

Jesus man chill out. He isnt being used as the distraction because 50% of the population probably couldn't care less that he has got it, more realise we will probably all get it and many realise that counting figures is not as important as helping the poorly.

Yeah I know, I said in another post that i'm in a fucking awful mood today for some reason.

Time to chill out, but all bets are off if i hear the phrase "Game Changer" one more time.

Does feel abit weird the obsession to want to know how many people have died in the past 24 hours, not speaking just in here either, so many people online treating it like a prediction competition.

There are tickets left in 2 of the four blocks, Supporters Clubs have snapped up the tickets at the back and the middle ones might be for Corporates. I reckon there are about 85 tickets left in the front rows.

I expect it's as a measure of where this is going.
It's the only way to quantify what is happening out there.
Infection rates and fatalities are the only perspective people have on the progress and severity of the situation.

So China builds new hospitals to cope with the pandemic as does Spain etc, USA needs more beds. But when we convert Excel to increase capacity down south which is a hot spot of known cases everyone thinks the worse. We know more deaths will occur due to the virus but surely increasing the number of beds at least gives people a chance rather than having them on trollies in corridors. In some eyes it doesn’t matter what the government does it will be wrong. Everyone’s a fucking expert on here

Not sure if that’s been the case, on here at least. I think the Excel thing has just focused a few minds on how serious this potentially could be.

Like China, North Korea and Russia are to name but three. Why does it matter so much, the numbers will rise but we will contain the virus in due course. What happens in the next ten days was always going to happen regardless. It’s what will happen in a couple of weeks which is more important as then we will know if social distancing, WFH etc is making a difference

why is today different from every other day?

I don't know if you noticed but the government has been compiling figures as from 1pm to 1pm each day. Yesterday's figures however were from 1pm Monday to 9am yesterday. The numbers were awful yesterday and I think they did that to keep the count down for the day.
Keeping this in mind I think today's figures could be quite disturbing, hence the failure to publish.
Before someone jumps in, I'm only putting 2+2 together.
