COVID-19 — Coronavirus

It strikes me that the review of figures this afternoon picked up errors so the whole thing had to be done again.

So China builds new hospitals to cope with the pandemic as does Spain etc, USA needs more beds. But when we convert Excel to increase capacity down south which is a hot spot of known cases everyone thinks the worse. We know more deaths will occur due to the virus but surely increasing the number of beds at least gives people a chance rather than having them on trollies in corridors. In some eyes it doesn’t matter what the government does it will be wrong. Everyone’s a fucking expert on here
Chill out man, everyone’s praising the work that excel London and the government have done to create the extra 4000 beds. But it also shows the gravity of the situation. I think you’ve read the last few pages wrong in all honesty.

Nowhere near the Italian path at the moment, much to the annoyance of some on here who said we would be soon worse than Italy. Fingers crossed though that the number of deaths continues to stay low over the next few months

part of anxiety was reading on here how we would soon be 200, then 400, then 800, then 1600 and it would carry on doubling.

now, I know it’s very early days and there will be spikes - but early signs it’s going to not be as bad as some predicted

The number of people who have died in England after contracting coronavirus has risen by 28, taking the UK total to 465.

There were four deaths at Barts Health NHS Trust in London and four others at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

Those who died include a 47-year-old who did not have an underlying health condition.

The others who died, including one person aged 93, did have underlying health conditions.

Six more deaths in Scotland take the total there to 22, and First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has said there are 51 people now in intensive care who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or are suspected to have it

Among those confirmed to have tested positive is Prince Charles, whose diagnosis was announced earlier.

The Ministry of Justice has also announced that 19 prisoners across 10 jails have been diagnosed with the infection, plus four prison staff across four jails and three prisoner escort and custody services staff

A lot lower than I feared, still any death is bad but I thought we were heading for three figure day.

Hopefully it doesn’t turn out to be an anomaly.

FINALLY,FINALLY got the all-clear from work today to work from home. All set up on my PC now. The only thing I need to go out for in the next 3 days is milk, bread and a 30-minute walk around the block each day.

Police were on the tram before when I was coming home asking people including me where I had been and where was going to. City Centre was absolutely empty at around 2.30 today

Just waiting for someone to say that they are lying about the figures now...
Yep. That would be me, I do have a tendency to be very distrustful, and am a deeply cynical person. I just find it strange it took them longer than normal to put today's figures out, something fishy going on maybe?

That's great. Good luck ;-)

The numbers are important not because it’s a competition or a stick to beat the government but because they show us trends and projections. Every single death is tragic and something we all want to avoid but unfortunately they’re inevitable right now. The stats from the UK these past few days are extremely encouraging so let’s hope they continue.
