This site has been my go to for 11 years and in these hard times I’m finding solace in this site, some very good and clever posters on here from all parts of the world. But graphs figures and who’s right who’s wrong means fuck all, one day they’ll be a post on here saying we’ve lost a fellow blue and god forbid it doesn’t occur. But I think it will happen.
I wish you all the very best of luck to you and yours, these really are extraordinary times and I wish you all the best of British. Stay strong blues and never forget where we’ve been or where we might go.

EU rightfully getting a kicking from the Italian PM - rabbit in the headlights when it was their time to show leadership and implement a continent wide unified policy.

Lorenzo Tondo

Here’s some more information from my colleague Lorenzo Tondo in Italy, on the announcement that the Italian death toll has now passed 10,000:

The number of deaths from coronavirus in Italy has passed 10,000 while the number of total cases is now over 90,000.

On Saturday, Italy announced 889 new deaths from Covid-19, as total fatalities leapt to 10,023. Another 5,974 have tested positive with coronavirus, 470 less than Friday.

Some 70,065 people across the country are currently infected with Covid-19.

The total number of contagions in Italy, including the deceased and those who have recovered, is 92,472.

Yesterday, the country recorded its highest daily rise in Covid-19 deaths, with 969 new fatalities.

On 31 March, flags will be flown at half-mast in cities across Italy to commemorate the victims of the pandemic.

Italy’s prime minister, Giuseppe Conte, warned on Saturday that the EU could lose its purpose if it failed to come up with a strong response to the coronavirus threat and accused other member states of a timid response to an unprecedented economic shock.

“If Europe does not rise to this unprecedented challenge, the whole European structure loses its raison d’être to the people,” Conte told the Il Sole 24 Ore financial newspaper.

“We are at a critical point in European history,” Conte added, “I represent a country that is suffering a lot and I cannot afford to procrastinate.”

The national government is said to be considering plans to extend a country-wide lockdown to mid-April.

The Higher Health Institute (ISS) said that the peak of the coronavirus epidemic in Italy was approaching.

“We have seen an apparent reduction in the infection curve since 20 March but we are not yet in a downward phase,” said ISS president Silvio Brusaferro.
You do realise your on the Bluemoon remainer site don't you ? you cannot say anything bad against the EU on this forum.

Where’s @SebastianBlue got to? He was a prolific poster from the outset of this thread with some good scientific data about the virus and he seems to have gone dark for a week.

I didn’t mean it when I said your posts were the musings of an idiot ;-)

Fuck that, I'm off to my holiday home.
The next door neighbours have just pulled their caravan out of storage, lord knows where they think they're going. They've been in and out since the lockdown and the wife has just seen them slip out of the front door when we all use the back door exclusively here. They both had peaked caps pulled down and got into a white van we've never seen before, leaving both of their cars parked up. They know they're doing wrong but just can't help themselves. Selfish sods.

Isaac Newton?

Isaac has predicted 3 apples will fall from the tree tomorrow and by next week 453 will land on his bonce. This depends on new Apple growth of said tree.

Mrs Newton attempts to ask him to stay indoors have so far fallen on death ears.

His chances of surviving such a downpour of fruit depends entirely if the apples are the more genteel granny Smith variety or the deadlier French strain of golden delicious.

They've jumped into the lifeboats before the women and children. Didn't expect anything less to be fair.

Can really only echo his words, were are these bureaucrats,ok I've been working but heard hardly anything from them..

With the Corona virus at large and SWMBO worried about her own condition plus my impending retirement can anybody recommend a will writing service that is likely to be running now?

I’ve not read anything in regard the EU policy but both of these statements cannot be true

1) Unelected EU bureaucrats making up and imposing laws on people

2) Unelected EU bureaucrats not imposing laws across the board to stop the spread

From what I have seen, individual countries chose to close their borders when they saw fit and the EU are bulk buying medical devices, PPE etc for a more coordinated approach. Something which States in the US are crying out for I.e better buying power and not competing and bidding against each other

Anyway, it makes no odds to us what the EU do or don’t do

Experts on sky, maybe can get it again and immunity might only last 3 months and you can still carry it if you have had it

Nobody really knows as nobody has had it before

Bloody hell, this might do for us all in the end the way it is going.

I'm sure plenty more have noticed this contradiction. Always been my belief that politically each country does what it wants..
