In contrast to the underrated player thread.

I’ll start with my nomination in recent times.. Nigel De Jong.

Everyone loved him when he came in, because we were bang average and like Zabaleta, he threw his body into everything.
The main difference between those two being, one improved their footballing ability and nous to match their dedication.

De Jong left ground too often, mainly because his positional sense was shit, and he was covering his own arse. I used to cringe when he would go crunching in, sometimes with unnecessary force, and he cost a few players a few years of their careers. If he had played for anyone else, we’d have bemoaned what a dirty player he was.

Oh and his chant was absolutely awful.

Mcpointyman, even before he came to us I thought he was shite
blobbie fowler
george weah (though perhaps shouldn't have expected much from a 70 year old)
would add danny mills, but no one rated him so doesn't fit the bill
angelinho
agree with robinho and trevor francis, both thought they were the dogs

christ I could be here all night :/

Keith Macrae. Pardon if spelling is incorrect. A classic Malcom expensive signing, to replace Corrigan who was too fat, according to our coach. Trouble was, he was shit and a slimmed down Joe soon replaced him.

All I can remember of him was he wore black shorts & socks causing a bollocking for the club, was ginger and had his one good game at Sheffield United after we had a minor coach crash and Corrigan couldn't play because of it.
