agree. Pretty much everyone is taking this fuckin serious now - everyone is doing their part. we are all aware of the daily death figures , the doom and gloom seems to be an enjoyment to some.

Correct we all watch sky etc, it’s the part of this topic that’s depressing and needs to stop

Am I the only one a little concerned how the press are reporting the fact the deaths have not been as high for a couple of days, where this is "a glimer of hope" etc. getting peoples hopes up and will probably get people thinking its not that bad and can go out etc.

As the Lancet reported the other day, based on the fact it takes 2-8 weeks to die from this. the fatalities we are seeing now were just registered as cases 2 weeks ago. to that note in 2 weeks we will be seeing the fatalities from today..... 2 weeks ago we were at 1.5k known cases. today we are at 22k.

Sorry to hear that - Have to admit I had to Google what Fibro is so at least I've learnt something today on bm :-)

Its a fucking nuisance especially in the winter. That why I try to do an airbnb down your way a couple of times in the winter. Just to get out and feel ok for a few days.

You are so lucky living in that climate, winter wrecks me.

I want one of those bands around my wrist like they had on the Contagion movie - assuming I get it and survive it... oh and chuck in a Blue Peter badge as well.

The thought of living in a paper checking type of society fills me with dread but I’m not sure what else we can do to get things moving.

I’m so delighted Johnson has enforced the Coronavirus bill has to be reviewed by parliament every 6 months and is flexible to get rid off quickly.

That level of protection, plus the monarchy, means we are safeguarded from totalitarianism.

I was just agreeing with you that I had something very similar, I’m not going to give it a name but it was fucking awful and wasn’t flu.
My manager at work was off for the first week back in January with something she didn’t know what it was neither. Said she’d never had owt like it before, it was horrendous and lasted about 4 days and she’s had a bad chest since.

Put together some numbers

They've just said hospital admissions have been stable for about a week so there shouldn't be a big spike.
Agreed - we should get better at doing that too. And having contingency plans in place which include many aspects, like the rapid ramp up of ventilator manufacture, for example. With designs and manufacturing tooling requirements, raw material supply chains etc all ready to switch on at a moments notice. Like supermarkets with contingency plans for huge rise in demand for oniine deliveries. Plans for where and when to build pop-up hospitals so we can be ready. Etc etc etc.

right to be concerned but it’s hard to predict what exact figures will be tomorrow let alone 2 weeks time - all we can do if your not on front line is follow government advice, stay in, wash your hands and check on your loved ones.

No point getting worked up whatever the figures as it’s out of your control.

I didn’t go out of the house for 6 weeks mate, even after that my lungs felt they’d been scarred

Yep totally agree with that, I but I can just envision some muppets taking this all as a sign.

As i have said, sky just said the figures we are getting is hospital deaths, they have only been testing those in hospital with it and those who present having been in contact with or coming back from italy or china

even nhs staff have not been tested till now
You are conflating the issue now.

Are you saying deaths are not being counted if they are outside of a hospital is your opinion or is it being reported as such?

Care homes are not hospitals.

So I’m not sure what Squirty is taking issue with here. If they’re only counting hospital deaths then care home deaths will not be being counted in the daily figures.

Nope, I was watching the same interview on Sky, and they wanted to make the point that the 180 that have died are hospital deaths, not people who may have died in a care home or at home with coronavirus.

Being asked about the death figures in the press conference now

Media question, are we getting reliable figures, downing street has said that there is a lag in the figures, some figures are up to two weeks old,the ONS are going to be putting out tomorrow the numbers that haven't died in hospital, have we only been given part of the truth so far

Answer, always some lag, the ONS figures are the ones from people having died in the community, not expecting that to be a big number

Me ,so yes we have only been getting hospital deaths numbers,so my ears are working just fine

Even in their tweets they seem to be making it clear it's hospitalised deaths, which begs the question are there any that aren't making it to hospital?

You'd hope not but it does seem a given that it's happening.

Impossible to judge anything on the new cases either as it's similar to other days but you have to put that down to limited testing.

Hypothetical question - If you have had cv19 and been given a clearance certificate would you feel more comfortable to socialise with non certificate holders (assuming quarantine is lifted) ?

Just curious in the general mindset on this.
